How can I learn the skills from the start of the game in-game?
I want to teach Ifan first aid, but I'm confused as to how. I know at the start of the game the ability to pick starting skills is there, but now I don't know how to obtain the skills.

There are various vendors that sell skillbooks that teach you the spells for each skill. In Fort Joy...

-Nebora the Tinkerer sells summoning books.

-The sick woman in the tent near the gate to the fort itself sells Necro books.

-Butter, on the ledge above Griff sells the Hunstman books (including First Aid)

-Hilde, a patrolling vendor that will wander around Griff's kitchen sells Scoundrel books.

-Maol, an elf picking up shells and such on the beach sells Geo books.

-Stingtail, the lizard just down the beach from Maol sells Pyro books

-The lizard in the elf cave sells Warfare books.

-The Dwarf outside the elf cave tending to the wounded old man sells Polymorph books.

-The blue lizard just outside Griff's kitchen near the large bonfire sells Hydro books.

-There's a mage looking guy who asks if you're there alone (offers a quest) sells Aero books.

Some of these vendors will be killed as you progress the area. Be sure to avoid certain quests like Griff's oranges until you've gotten the books you need from his vendors or the characters involved in the quests as you might lose access to a vendor of those skills until you've found the camp outside in the swamps. The second tier spells will become available at level 4. Once you got what you're after at level 4, progressing these quests should be fine.

Are there any near Driftwood? That's where I'm at currently.

Thanks, turns out since all of the traders in the square are dead (totally not by my own hands) I'll have to find more locations.

Specifically for huntsman books, you'll be able to find a fletcher in the Lumber mill to the North. Once you clear out the people nearby he'll even have an option to join you on your ship to buy from whenever. Alternatively, there's a small elf encampment outside the lumber mill that should have most skillbooks on offer, as well as some dwarf merchants behind the mill that have a random assortment on them. I usually drop a teleport pyramid at both locations for easy access since there's no nearby waypoints.
