What does necromancy scale off?
Since necromany does physical dmg, if i was to use a wand + shield or staff will it change to magic or still physical? Also if it can change to magic dmg will the dmg scale of int instead of strength?

Necromancy is Physical only. It will always deal physical damage and will scale with INT. All the time.

" Also if it can change to magic dmg will the dmg scale of int instead of strength?"

As far as i now that is not possible without mods.
Thats why I'm asking because a class mod uses necro but deals magic dmg so I can just use INT and dmg should be good, I shouldnt put any points into warfare?

Which one?

Warfare increases physical dmg delt. So. yes warfare will increase the damage of necro abilities that do physical dmg. Now.. what your mod does to skills.. may impact what affects it, like in the combat log, what type of magic dmg does the ability do? That I cant help you with. Im a base game man.

If you are confused on some abilities, if you have access to a respec mirror, you can put a temp point in warfare for example and the tool tip will update. Should update. You are playing with mods so.. anything can and will happen.

Main stat int, scales with warfare. Weapon skills like dual wield will increase that dmg as well.

...and so dies my plans for a 2nd game w/ a melee type using STR, Warfare, & Necro. Which scales w/ INT. Good thing I read these boards!

You can still do it tbh, using Mosquito Swarm for a ranged attack or a decent decay touch for your healer to deal damage is nice. The damage is not maximized but it will still deal good damage. Lots of people use melee warrior necros.

...aaaaaand we're back! So I wasn't completely off-base, thank you. I think as long as I don't have to sweat a Tactician run, I want to do future builds that interest me, non-optimized as they may be. Pumping everything into Warfare and a weapon skill just seems kind of dull when you have a game w/ lots of fun potential in fights. In fact, while my fights might take a little longer to resolve, they're just fun to watch them play out. I learn things even from my enemies.

I have a lone wolf duo and have Sabille as an intelligence based necro/summoner (1h plus shield) with a couple of warfare skills for CC.
It's a difficult build as standard attacks do so little damage due to the lack of strength. This means she has to rely on skills which can struggle on longer fights because of cool downs.
But the skills she uses can cause some serious damage.
Seems to be working ok and getting towards the end of act 2.

I currently have Fane as an INT-based necro/summoner hybrid. 1h (wand)+shield. But he's in a standard party of 4. Those buffed Incarnate Summons' start the fight and then he does whatever he can to keep contributing. It's fun.

Warrior with high Necro is close to a tank because of how much healing it does. High damage 2H with high necro is uber powerful. I did this for my first lone wolf play through. Add some poly and you have an awesome phys character.

It's not an optimal build like other builds but it still works, you may or may not have problems on tactician, but I guess it all depends on how you build these kind of builds.

If you get elemental affinity:
They get access to 2 AP Infect (155% scaling), combine it with STR scaling Tentacle Lash (125%), Crippling Blow (115%).
Deathwish 1 AP
Living on the Edge 2 AP
Last Rites 2 AP, then regain that lost health attacking next turn, combine it with Living on the Edge all for 4 AP.
Blood Rain, Decay Touch, Blood Suck for 3 AP in total (I like this combo a lot early)
Also Elf + Necromancy too good

Enrage for big crits and more heals
Whirlwind with enrage crits
Battering Ram + Battle Stomp, I like how these also crit

You can do so many builds and ideas for builds in this game which is why it's so great IMO. It's not just your typical warrior or typical mage, you find something about a skill or spell or an interaction and you can make a whole build around it, like Sparkling Swings Warrior/Rogue/Battlemage or Reactive Shot Poison Ranger as an example.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm sure I'll be trying some of it in the near future, on subsequent playthroughs. And I agree on the variety of builds keeping up interest in replayability, which I like in an RPG.
