Pillars of Eternity 2 or Divinity: Original Sin 2 - DE?
They are both on sale and both have a workshop. So I don't know which one to get. Which one is more fun to play? Thanks

Honestly - take both. They both are very good.

If u want to choose - no way, DOS2 is the best rpg game for the last couple of years.

Re-playability of DOS2 is just absurdly crazy good.

if you want better story+characters and the like DoS 2 if you want more Classic Rpg Mechanics Pillars.

I think what I'm really after is a more sandbox approach without the rat in the maze go from A to B linear stuff. Which game gives you more freedom to explore and do what you want?

I would say DoS 2 more so though enemies will be set level at areas and therefore make certain areas harder but there is difficulty settings and mods to work around and also add more enjoyment.

With mods that equal level and make fights harder, whilst DOS has a linear story, you'll be truely able to go where you want and how.

Pillars is more like DnD 4th edition; without any multiplayer choices. I honestly wish I could play it cooperatively. Biggest selling point for me is the *choice* of multiplayer if desired.

Divinity def. The music alone is just so good. When I was fighting on the beach and that sand flute plays and im just watching the beautiful turn based combat unfold. Divinity isn't perfect but damn it is beautiful and really the closest game to Dragon Age Origins I've played. Divinity Original Sin is closer to Dragon Age Origins than Dragon Age Inquisition is. Larian Studios is the new old Bioware.

Imo, DOS is a lot more classical in it's spirit than POE. I haven't played POE2, but in the first game you don't even get experience for combat. And in general it felt like the devs were so concerned with "fixing" what they thought was wrong with Baldur's Gate that they forgot what made those games great in the first place.

Both games are garbage in different ways and worse than their predecessors so don't bother at all. :steamsalty:

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this on the second paragraph of your other thread from the PoE2 discussions:

I haven't played DOS2 in a long time, but I find the linearity of DOS2 less abundant than the previous title of the franchise. It does have balancing issues where you can beat anyone with one simple cheese tactic which made the Tactician difficulty feel like a walk in a park.

If you like exploring, I think POE2 does it better, but its story has this Skyrim problem where "you have a job to save the world yet you're too busy having fun exploring". As long as story doesn't matter to you that much, then POE2 is a good way to go. The game has Turn-Based mode too, fyi.

In my experience, I never got tired of DOS series' Combat since I get to slouch on the chair while playing; on the other hand, I'm always at the edge of my seat at the middle of my PoE playthroughs during combat. I enjoyed on both scenarios, yet they're a completely different experience.

Divinity: Original Sin 2
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
  1. Smaller amount of areas to explore but with more content squeezed in
  2. Singleplayer, Couch Co-op, and Multiplayer
  3. Turn-based Mode Combat
  4. More various mods (don't expect anything Skyrim-like, though)
  5. More unique combat encounters
  6. Difficulty can be all over the place
  7. Less buggy overall
  1. Vast amount of places to explore, stretching the amount of content all throughout
  2. Singleplayer
  3. Real-Time with Pause and Turn-based Mode Combat
  4. Less interesting mods
  5. Combat can get repetitive
  6. Highly flexible difficulty setting
  7. More buggy overall
In addition, PoE2 has an option to scale down opponents if they're overleveled, so a lot of your encounters can be beatable. The downside with that is it could get less challenging, but your freedom of exploration expands as an upside.

Well, thank you all for the feedback, especially you, m8! I appreciate the time each of you took for every comment and will make my purchase tonight before the sale goes away. It's still a hard choice. I think both games would be a load of fun so I probably won't go wrong either way.
