Divinity Orginal Sin 2 for PS4
I was under the assumption I would somehow be able to download DOS2 on PS4 for free since I already bought the game for PC. Can someone confirm this?

This is just not something that happen. I have never seen games given for free because you bought it on a platform over another. Sony, Microsoft, Apple, Google needs their cut on software sales. A quick google search and I can't find anything confirming your assumption.

Nah, I don't think there was ever any kind of statement that console versions would be free for owners of the PC version, since the publisher likely wouldn't appreciate that. Larian self-published the PC version so they get to call the shots there.

The only thing "free" is the update from Classic to Definitive on PC.

Well not entirely true (as xbox sells games that activate both on xbox one and windows 10 pc now such sea of thieves, or state of decay 2) and sony at one point sold games both on Playstation 3 and Steam together. But I digress. You need to buy the game on multiple platforms which IS the industry standard.

Steam # xbox, you can't buy games on steam to play it on xbox and vice versa

Xbox and Win10 store get crossowned titles because Microsoft owns or published said titles and they own both distribution platforms, so they get to call the shots.
