Fane is also the best character all around (both in lore and gameplay) and being undead offers many funny interactions in dialogue.
If you are planning to play solo lone wolf, I'd 100% recommend Fane, but if this is your first playthrough, then I'd consider Lohse and Sebille more because they're better suited for party play, which is definitely better for your first playthrough, as you'll get to experience more of the character's story.
Ifan and Beast fall short for me as characters I'd play as, but definitely the best to play with as companions.
Ifan is the Garrus of divinity 2, really fun companion to have, Beast is sadly the shallowest character in terms of backstory, but easily the funniest, you'll likely crack up occasionally for his comments and attitude.
Lohse (already played as her)
The Red Prince
Sebille
Looks like that's it. Thanks for the answers guys.
Honestly I don't see the appeal that Fane seems to have, his secret is glaringly overplayed and isn't really that big of a deal.
I think rogues are kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥ though, getting behind mobs 24/7 is near impossible with all the ground tile issues and the moving costing AP and provoking AOs and all that. Better to just make a Warfare/Polymorph. I would suggest (x2) of these and then (x2) ranged characters so that you can do well on bosses and clean up far targets still. Fane doesn't have the dodging, crit chance and all that so not the best melee player. Maybe good to make him one of the ranged characters instead who just happens to be healed by poison attacks (an extra defense).
You can make a Wizard who can sneak and steal without issue in this game.
