Should I kill alexander in act 3?
Title. What's the difference if I leave him alive?

I mean... There isn't. Go for either and see what happens, but in the end its not too significant. Possibly more interesting with him around still.

I say kill him and get the xp. It's debatable whether or not he actually turned over a new leaf, as he's still an arogant "only *I* can be the next divine!" type of person, so killing him for being a tyrannical person a few mere weeks/months ago isn't too big of a moral issue.

He's such a prick. If there's not a good reason, I'm killing him.

Storywise, it's fun to keep him alive. Progress-wise (like XP, Items, etc.), kill him.

I mean, right before the arena fight you can absolutely crush him via persuasion. I found that more satisfying than just killing him.

It's not a matter of whether you should. It is whether you want to.

Use your knowledge and feeling to decide it. Either way can be justify.

I did that one on my first play through, and I have enjoyed killing him every time since then. I find it more satisfying to talk to his miffed spirit and absorb it. To each his own.

Hmmmmmm.... I wasn't given a choice. The moment I walked up onto the platform and started to approach him to talk, everyone--including him--went hostile.

Maybe you have really bad reputation killing too many magisters ;)

I don't think XP gain is a good enough reason to kill him. No matter what you do you'll be level 20 at the end. The gap between 20 and 21 is so wide that you have to be pretty meticulous to reach it and anyway it doesn't even matter because end boss is not that hard that you need to squeeze another level out.

If you let him win the arena you'll see something interesting.

Nah, my first playthrough I got to the last boss at 19. Clearing all the main quests in Arx should get you to 21, and if not, the Paladins on the bridge will likely get you there.

But if you read forums while playing, and see what quests are available, and don't rush the ending, yeah, 20 is hard to miss.

You can never kill too many magisters after the ♥♥♥♥ they pulled deaths to good for them and no the they were just following order argument ain't going to cut it any more than it did for the people who ran death camps in real life.

I only killed the ones the game forced me to kill, e.g., like when meeting up with Gareth at Fort Joy for instance. I even reluctantly went to work for them in Driftwood. I have no clue why they were hostile.

Yeah, in my opinion, this is the one aspect of the game/story I thought was poorly done. Their overall actions and group mentality did not match most of the one-on-one conversations with any of them. Throughout the entire game, I never got a clear idea whether I should consider them an enemy or a "friend just trying to help."

Almost as if most of the Magisters are just people in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ situation. The vast majority of them that aren't directly stationed at Fort Joy probably don't even know what purging is or how Shriekers are created.
