Bedrolls are all you ever need for out-of-combat healing.
You can Rain of Blood on Fane, and then target him with Bloodsucker (It's a ranged heal that works on Undead since it is Necromancy).
Or any spell that causes Poison Damage.
I just set him up with some Necromancy as well and the Mosquito Swarm ability does great things in upkeeping himself.
plus if things get a little hairy in fights with fane and his heal is going down..dont forget his passive perk of play undead!. cast that the enemys dont focus him..
Start a fight... if there is dialogue make fane be the one talking.
While talking buff him with haste, fortify, etc. Let all those buffs cycle and you not only have them on fane when the fight starts you have them ready to cast.
Makes tactics mode easy since most fights start with talking.
