I think Jahan tells you in the first game he made a deal with a demon for immortality, or at least an incredibly long life by human standards.
In my mind, Wolgraff is still out there, spotting traps.
These games are set, 1000? years apart. It makes sense for names to be forgotten. The fact he's in the game is awesome though.
From what I understand, DOS2 takes place a thousand years BEFORE DOS1, not after.

What made you think that was the case? It is definitely a sequel.
For one it made sense to me that DOS2 explained why Source users were being hunted, and then you play as Source hunters in DOS1.
I now looked up the timeline and see I'm wrong but again it's somewhat confusing to me
Jahan made a pact with a demon to live for 1,000 years.
However, Jahan basically went to the DOS version of the Garden of Eden and met Eve, and sometime during these events obtained eternal life.
As he says, he has seen well over 2,000 springs, and will continue to until time itself closes its weary eyes.
