How hard is it to keep the cat alive?
Especially if I want to fight Dallis. Which means clearing as much of Fort Joy as possible to level up, not rushing for the fastest way out with the cat.

Has anyone tried it?

edit: If you delay encountering Dallis, the cat will actually stay outside and stare at her the entire time you're in Fort Joy, trivializing any concern for keeping it alive. It also backs off if you engage Dallis in combat; I had the entire area covered in fire, but the cat stayed well away.

It is (very) buggy currently, so I doubt anyone did as of now.

does the cat actually die? i just stop noticing it's existence and figure it must have wandered off

I also just stopped noticing it. But I heard guards kill it, and I know that's the intent in the release version.

I was going to try keeping it alive as a challenge before release, but I think I'll save my sanity and not bother. Might try Dallis though.

It does, quite often really. In the current state it does however also wander off and disappear easily as such it is difficult to keep it around.

The more pressing questions should be: "Is the cat even worth keeping alive?" and "Who or what actually is the cat?".
Not even sure of its intent in the firstplace, had a pet pal character speak to it and nothing interesting. Same with the crab.

Keeping the cat alive is really easy, just don't go inte combat with the caracter the cat is following, it could not be easier.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the cat was something like Arhu from their previous title. There's gotta be a story behind those "clouded eyes".

The stream said there's a reward for saving it, but they didn't get far enough.

The cat stands really far back when combat starts, so it doesn't get killed that easily. There is at least one guard that shoots it. But the real big issue is screen transitions and ladders make it wander off, and a full clear requires lots of screen transitions. But hopefully that is fixed at launch.

It kinda does. There is a video where player use spell "Cat Summon" to summon this black thingy out of prison and change places with the cat to escape.

I think it is bugged.

When combat starts, it stands back anf joins again after the fight. So I figure, it might not be killed during the first fights.
When you get too close to the gate-guards, an archer will shoot it.
The dog "Buddie" considers it as "food" but never was really violent.
At some random point it simply vanishes.
