You can do it yourself, or you can get an ally to help.

It becomes apparent when you can do something about them. Before then, just avoid them and explore other areas.

but backstabbing seemed not to work although they have just 30 hp :P

The plot literally guides you to one Screamer solution, and you can find 2 more by exploring.

Interestingly enough, if you're "really" good at exploration, you can avoid the screamers, and get into the locations they're guarding.

You really don't "need" the plot item until the very end of the Act. I mean that's if Larian didn't patch the ways I've found to get behind them.

Didn't really seem like a bug, or exploit. But, I haven't touched the game in a while, so lots could have changed since I last played.
