Is this game like the playstation game medievil at all?

Looks fun. Was enjoying playing it, but immediately after you start, you get into a "Challenge" mode that, when playing it, the "X" button on your controller, or, the "K" button that it requires you to use, do NOT work. Not sure if this is intentional, but it does not seem so. This is marring what looks like otherwise, to be a fun game. Has anyone else seen this?...
