Black edges around images with transparency
I imported an image the same resolution as the wallpaper I'm making. The image is just a drawing with smooth edges, which looks nice in GIMP, but in Wallpaper Engine there's black around the edges. Screenshot: click[imgur.com]

In another part of the wallpaper I had to cut an image in half (one half needs to be behind of a certain layer, the other half needs to be in front), and while it also looks fine in GIMP, here the cut is clearly visible. Screenshot: click[imgur.com]

I didn't do anything other than just import all images into WE. They are all the same resolution, so they lined up nicely together.

What did I do wrong and can I fix it somehow?

Wallpaper Engine renders real time with 'bilinear filtering' from the graphics card this is just inherently producing this. You can actually disable that for your images in WE, but I wouldn't recommend it, if you can export your images so that they look nice with bilinear filtering you will get better overall quality.

Nice, had the exact same problem and didn´t know exactly how to get rid of it. Thanks @ Biohazard ^^

I wouldn´t call myself a dumb ♥♥♥♥ in regards of cgi, images and the proper tools but every tga file i import into wallpaper engine always shows up completely transparent. Checked the alpha channel in Photoshop, reopened it again in PS, looking normal but WE just shows up nothing. The object is there in the list of layers, i can move it around etc. but the content is missing. Any hint what i do wrong? ^^

Just saw that i can import PSD files in WE. Gonna try me luck with that.

Did you export it as 32-bit TGA with alpha channel enabled in PS too?
butcho Apr 17, 2018 @ 9:04am
Yes, 32-bit with alpha channel. Works fine when reopening the TGA file in Photoshop but WE just shows no pixel.

Can you share the tga file? Does it even not work if you just import it into a clean project with default settings?

The only thing that worked for me is the solution from the unity link you posted. Doesn´t matter if PNG, TGA or PSD all got a white border but the link with the solidify filter works great. Thnx for sharing.
