Problems creating video loop as a Wallpaper
I'm trying to create a video Wallpaper with a perfectly looped video. The problem is at the end of the video the loop skips and the transition between the end and start of the video is choppy, which is very frustrating. I also am not sure why aren't there any controls for the video in the editor, it has only the option to change the name of the video which is hilarious.

I also tried to import an image sequence, which DOES loop back properly, but it seems to switch between the frames waaaay too slow.

And all of this is inside the editor, I don't understand how would my graphics card be related to these issues.

Thanks!

Well I just dropped the video into the 'Create New' screen. As far as I understand, the video has to be .mp4 format.

I think it's ridiculous that the official help links to an outdated video tutorial. The newest version of Wallpaper Engine doesn't have the option to create a 'New Video Wallpaper' (like in the OFFICIAL help). And the lack of control in the editor is disappointing.

A video will always have a small glitch when WE loops it and the file jumps back to the first frame. Doesn´t matter how good your loop is. Guess that is a technical limitation.

If your imported image sequence runs way to slow you have to set a lower frame duration on import. The standard is 0.24 but that results in slowmo for every descent 30 or 60 fps sequence. Just set it to something like 0.02 or 0.03 on import and you should get a smooth running sequence. ^^

Hey, thanks mane, I appreciate the help. Maybe for my next wallpaper, for this one I worked around it by looping the video for 30 seconds and slappin' it on like that. So if the last frame skips it wouldn't be as bad.

Cool, so keep these wallpapers with image sequences rolling because there are way to less wallpaper creators that make use of it. Pretty tired of these standard shake-and-water-effects-on-a-background stuff. The editor is capable of doing so much more and still most people don´t make use of it.

So everyone willing to do things a bit different can count on my help. :lunar2019coolpig::eaglegrin:

Regarding video wallpaper loops, you can try to change the "video loading" option in the Wallpaper Engine settings to "in-memory" which gets rid of the choppiness that some users experience at the end of video loops. You can also try LAV with DirectShow and see if that works better on your system:

We have also just pushed an update to the Wallpaper Engine beta which improves the performance of DirectShow so you could give that a try early if you'd like.

That's true, we are working on a new tutorial website and will completely delete the old stuff when that goes live.
