If it's a performance issue, you could try to set wallpaper32/64.exe to the Nvidia GPU in the Nvidia Control Panel, by default it uses the Intel GPU.

Make sure to not start it through Steam again or it will revert to the Intel GPU (instead start it directly with wallpaper32.exe).

I want to know about this as well.

What model (not spec) is your laptop? I am having the same problem.

Can you try to choose the high-performance GPU in the Nvidia Control Panel for wallpaper32.exe, then restart the PC and start Wallpaper Engine directly with wallpaper32.exe? (Running it through Steam will revert it to the integrated GPU).

Are you running the laptop on battery/does it even lag when it is plugged into a socket?

Yes it still lags when plugged into socket and i have changed the battery options to be at max.

I have the same problem here. It works perfectly on my external monitor with 2560x1080. When back to my tiny laptop screen (1920x1080) the framerate drops to 30.
My laptop: i7 6700HQ + GTX960M
I already have the GPU priority set to High Performance NVIDIA GPU and Power plugged in

I notice that this only happen when playing a Scene wallpaper. Video and Web seem to run very well.

Since you are saying it happens only to scene wallpapers, is the framerate limit above 30? Because one of the default options is 30 FPS.

No, the same wallpaper runs at 60fps on my Desktop(i7 6700K + GTX670). I am sure I did not limit the FPS at option and Wallpaper Engine is running on NVIDIA GPU (as I use Shadow Play's FPS counter). This is a weird problem. To be more specific, the wallpaper I tested are Parallax Nebula and Altantis Nebula Ultra Wide. Both react to mouse movement so it is easy to notice the framerate difference.

Is the issue also occuring with the stock scene wallpapers?

I think Shadow Play's FPS counter would also work on apps that run on Intel, so I don't know if that's a good indicator, or are you sure that makes it stop working? But it's weird that they work well on the higher resolution monitor, if anything it would have made more sense the other way around, but this way it really doesn't make sense.

Is Nvidia DSR possibly enabled and it's rendering on a higher resolution on the laptop monitor?
