auto mute feature not working properly
The option of 'Other application playing audio' does not work.
when i set it to mute or pause, and Eventhough i have no audio playing in the background
the audio(of the wallpaper) plays for about half a second then stops for 3 seconds then again plays for half a second and so on.
This particular bug is fairly frustrating since i've wanted the auto mute feature

I;m using Dark Soul III-Firekeeper, Dark Souls - Firekeeper, Ori DE and all of them share the exact same problem

Can you share the links to them? Do you have any software installed that redirects audio in any way?

If one of them is using .webm then that would explain it.

I dunno where the link is I can only find it in the workshop. (You could tell me how)
and also how do I know if any of my application is using .webm?
If all goes wrong I might just leave it as permanent mute

Right now you can right click the wallpaper and 'open in explorer' to see the file extension it uses.

I've found out why. It was because of nvdia shadowplay. When i turn it off auto mute works perfectly.
Also i've seen your guideline of excluding wallpaper engine from shadowplay with hexeditor and applied it.
But sadly it doesn't work. any suggestions?

I finally found out what's behind all of this.
Your method of hex editing made the fps counter disappear
But the sound kept getting chipped
It was because of the nvdia shadowplay's instant replay
if I turn it on the chipping occurs. If i turn it off it everything's well
So can you make auto mute function even when the instant replay is on?
I'd like to keep it on.
Until then I'll just turn it on/off every time i game

Does it happen with the 64-bit version too?

I just need Nvidia to stop manipulating my program and leave it alone. They have added the 64-bit version in their 3.11 release to the exclusion list, but I don't know if that suffices or not. Since you saw the hex editing tutorial, you can probably tell that I've been trying to do their job for them, I think I've reached the limit of what I can do about their tools at this point.

I think it's just auto mute feature not compatible with recording/streaming. (Or Exclusively Nvdia's recording)
But I'm fine. Thanks for your cooperation. Love your software

The auto mute feature probably detects the recording/streaming process' audio. But it should not have any audible sound unless you are playing something that is being actively recorded. So my best guess is, that Nvidia is constantly recording the wallpaper including the audio it has, if that makes sense. That would waste graphics performance (for video encoding) and also break auto muting - the wallpaper would basically mute itself since it thinks the audio comes from a different program.

I would just like to butt in and add that using the 64 bit version does indeed fix the issue of audio muting due to Nvidia's shadowplay. I felt like this may be useful information. Good luck trying to fix these seemingly annoying compatibility issues, and thank you for the suggestion ♥
Would just like to add here I just started having this issue as of my most recent computer restart, for some reason - Can't seem to find a fix, and both 32 and 64 bit versions are doing this to all of my wallpapers

EDIT: One of the above posters pointed out Nvidia Instant Replay and I guess I didn't believe them, but disabling that fixed it even without a computer restart? That's really strange, but hey.

Okay, quick update on my last post, the 64 bit version seems to have stopped preventing the issue with Nvidia Instant Replay. It did on the first attempt, but trying again has yeilded negative results.

I think I found a fix for my similar issue. The audio kept detecting itself and so I went into the audio mixer and muted wallpaper engine and saw the the music would play when it was supposed to but of course it's muted. But since you guys mentioned shadow play recording constantly I tried muting just nvidia container and not wallpaper engine and it works perfectly fine now. But I'm not sure if any recordings are going to be muted or not.

IMPORTANT EDIT: It does in fact mute your recordings like it will record your mike but you will have no game sound.
:v
