A filter for the Discover Tab / new approved wallpapers?
Title says it all....would it be possible to add some sort of filter only for the approved category?

I used to really like browsing through the stuff tagged as approved to at least find something good once in a while but not anymore because, what a surprise, 90% ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ anime everytime I check. Can't stand to watch that stuff and would love to exclude it so maybe a handful of wallpapers pop up that have nothing to do with anime.

Are you talking about the discover page? You should already be able to filter for approved wallpapers and exclude anime in the app and the browser.

https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=431960&searchtext=&childpublishedfileid=0&browsesort=trend&section=readytouseitems&requiredtags%5B%5D=Approved&excludedtags%5B%5D=Anime

Yeah, I know that. I excluded anime since this is possible in WPE but it looks like this is not going to work inside the application, at least not on my side for some reason. Don't get me wrong, nothing personal but with my filter settings the last thing I want to see is your wallpaper "Street by Sin", just to name an example. ^^

It's not the only one, countless other anime wallpapers getting displayed in my Approved tab inside the app though it is excluded.

So by "Approved tab" you are referring to the Discover tab's "New approved wallpapers" section? I don't believe filters affect anything on the discover tab, but you should be able to exclude anime from your approval filter in the "Workshop" tab.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant.

I edited the thread title, sorry for not being more precise.

Right. I don't think the devs intend to have filters affect the discover page at all, but you can exclude tags in the workshop tab. I believe you should also be able to remove the New approved wallpapers section from your discover page by down voting it.

It would definitely be nice if the discover tab recommended wallpapers that you are interested in though. The devs could bring back the "What kinds of wallpapers are you interested in?" prompt and use that to recommend wallpapers in the discover tab.

Don't think this is going to happen. I had a fair amount of discussion with the devs in the past about the approval of wallpapers or tags in general, but no luck. I would still like to have the possibility to search for wallpapers by size inside the application because I love to find wallpapers that stress my GPU but this might also be a Steam limitation. I don't know what search parameters Steam offers, so I could be wrong here.

I'm not sure why it wouldn't be possible to allow for filtering of the Discover tab, but it isn't an issue that bothers me anyways.

I know that sometimes the wallpaper size information that Steam displays is different from how much it downloads, so it could also just be unreliable even if they had access to the parameters.

The discover tab does not use filters. If you browse the approved list there, you will see all approved wallpapers and there is no filtering. All filters are on the Workshop tab, just enable the approved checkbox there at the top and you will get the exact same list except now you can filter it the way you want to.

Steam Workshop has no system to query/sort wallpapers by size, so yeah, there is no way to add that. If Valve ever adds that to Steam we can add it to Wallpaper Engine but otherwise it's plain impossible.

Ok, thanks for the clarification.
