Difficulty recommendation?
Normal? Moderate? Hard? Intense?

I am currently on hard mode as i find normal enemy kinda funny running around like i was a wall.
But in hard mode those random strong boss encounters, dangerous encounter kicked my ass quite well.
I did managed to clear it though sometimes it cost me like 4-6 resurrection.

velvet is extremely broken character, there is no reason playing below hard if maining her. You can literally press random buttons and win 200+ grades battles as long as you make guard breakes and remember to RT.

who do you play with? Hard and above really focus on offense since heals are kinda worthless, Velvet can solo most encounters, other characters not that broken.

Im pretty sure you can just press random buttons and break souls with velvet and win every fight on intense without k.o's since AI usually pretty good in defense. Make sure also to adjust ai slightly, like make characters like rokoruo balanced instead of aggressive.

I prefer him on aggressive although he undeniably died 3 times in a row and i was already facepalming that time.

That said, i also once tried give hold nothing back, and 2 of them dies aside from Laphicet.
I am still in chapter 1 though..

I find hard mode a good base difficulty. I also enjoyed the difficulty it provided for the dire foes. If you can beat them just power up and return.

Normal and hard are cool in the first playthrough. Hard gets a little grindy maybe but this game is kind of easy really so i think is more fun playing on hard. Then on the second playthrough you go straight to unknown, then it gets really fun having all the artes and all. This game doesnt have some ridiculous boss like spiral draco in Vesperia or Zombie dragon from zestiria that are freaking imposible on unknown, so just enjoy.

Balanced is pretty much aggressive until they hit 50%. half hp is something you can work with and they can survive. with 25% they will most likely die. So basically untill 50% its the same, and defensive/heal has its own advantages.

Just don't play on normal. It's far too easy on normal. Play on moderate or above

honestly hard and intense are pretty much similar, main difference is that cd on items higher. Stats arent THAT different. If you understand basics of combat like dont faceroll into enemy guard, quickstep in the end of your combo, instead of trying to "continue combo" with 0 energy or when its already broken youd be fine.

Food ans switches are main source of healing. If you are decent on 2+ characters youll conquer any difficulty without problems.

moderate is good to be fun to battle and not too hard to make you die many times

Well this kinda summed ♥♥♥♥ up,
I liked her but at this point i might as well try something else and only main her in boss fight/dire foes
Until i hit specific level i am going to temporary try others too

and i was not kidding about that grade. I actually maining eleanor this time so i kinda forgot my setup for velvet. Still yesterday i switched on velvet for 70 lvl hanged man ( my party 30 ) on dangerous encounter intense. Not gonna lie, i cant say i remembered much of my combos, except twin whip into other water base arte and shell cracker after that i basically pressed random buttons into second mystic arte and won no k.o. no items 270 grade lol.

Yea thats my strategy too, i feel that im decent at eleanor and even using her during bosses, but on such overwhelming encounter i just chickened into velvet syndrome lol. Still 270 grade is pretty sweet, instant all equip maxed.

From my observations rokurou is extremely powerfull too, but hes so fast i cant pull combos from my heal for him, and just using presets not fun for me, i like to change moves every time after starting weakness chain.

Teach me master! i have them all on defensive and in "dangerous encounter" they still die all the time on hard, ruining my 2x chain in the process. I'm around lvl 40 atm and the party is literally a detriment. Their main contribution is spreading the enemies out so I can't cleave them down with mystic arte, and wrecking my grade.

Maybe keep them balanced or defensive?
Certainly you may also require proper equipment in higher difficulty.
Because some stuff can't be dodged easily for AI due certain boss skill is undodgeable for the AIs.
I remember fighting against Phoenix or something, and Rokurou always died getting caught on the staggering skill and it was instant death.

well i killed dark bottled lundwyrm / bacturnian man on intense, no k.o all the time. IF you still didnt figure, the key in dire enemy fight is not dire enemy itself, most of the time but the type of monsters accompaniying him ( It decideced by which enemy you hit on field first ). That said its not granted you'd always be successful, swaps / hitting weaknesses etc pretty much required.

My advice was mostly for common fights if he had problems, because aggressive is definetely bad option ( imo ) I myself pretty much used balanced on everyone with some tinkering, like velvet not using BS etc.

Ah i see, you said dangerous encounter, well i played eleanor so i pretty much swept everything. I usually used stay away on full casters. Anyway you are not AI yourself, most of the time enemies are centered somewhere so you can move yourself. AI in berseria is extremely good in terms of survival, you want to suffer, try to kill giganto monsters in zestiria without k.o.

Also, titles are the key for AI. If you run some combo masters or weakness hunters on AI, its bad. Incapacipator is best title with enchanted chests and rings. And you also better know how to play 2 characters and have your sub with shadow stepper, to dodge anything with i-frames from swap. Also dont forget to use gels, winning without items will increase your grade A BIT, while even one k.o. reduce it by ALOT.

Phoenix is a real terror. I managed to kill him on intense with 1 k.o. due to his mystic arte. Although he was on me all the time. Hes also not a very good example, since he has ridiciolus stun chances and can insta kill stunned targets. So +7/8 rings and chests are pretty much must have, also swapping shadow steppers really helps.
