Tales of Berseria

Eizen's Fate: SPOILERS kinda?
Oddly enough, I played Tales of Berseria before playing Tales of Zestiria. This actually makes Eizen's story better. Everything is a mystery and you're left trying to find out more about his past and who his sister is. I seemed to be okay with it being a mystery on who his sister was and that it was always implied but one of the cutscenes in the game had Eizen blatantly saying his sister's name.

Also I really like how his conflict with Zavied slowly reveals that he will inevitably become a dragon and that he's come to terms with it.

All this led me to wanting to play Tales of Zestiria even though Tales of Berseria is a genuinely superior game.

Honestly I wish the anime will touch on that either this season or the inevitable next ones, because I tend to drop Zesty's playthroughs halfway.
Eizen is pretty strong boss in Zesterian way more powerfull than Berseria dragons.

oh god. il remember the first time i see him.. i say a dragon? cool let's try. and the rest is history lol
Yeah. Zestiria has some of its noticible merits despite being the less superior game.
Hundreds years after Berseria, Eizen fought with a lord of calamity. He managed to defeat him, but as a result he ended up being a dragon.

To think that he'd be killed by idiots who didn't even try to save him... it makes you think how badly executed Zestiria's story was.

How can you actually save a malak thats already turned into a dragon. You can't save him.

Even if there isn't a way to save a dragon, Sorey and others should have tried at least looking for it. They should have been torn between the choices. But they didn't even do that. They straightout killed Eizen on a SIDE QUEST without talking to Edna in advance, completely ignoring how she'd feel. Sorey broke the promise for her as if it didn't exist at all.

The worst execution I've ever seen in a Tales of.

I did. I learned how Eizen turned into a dragon in a book published by Bamco.

You say they didn't try to save him but if you notice in the cutscene titled "Siegfried's Manual," the characters are discussing a type of bullet imbued with mana that can sever the influence of malevolence. In Zestiria, Zavied has those bullets and still wasn't able to help Eizen. We can safely assume there was nothing more that could be done to restore Eizen rather than giving him a mercy kill. Rather than letting live a futile life, they let him die by his creed. (Berseria made a lot of lame plot points in Zestiria better.)

Okay, Siegfried might have been the most effective weapon that existed in that world. But how exactly did they come to know it is? Did they go through all the documents? No. Did they attempt to find another potent weapon like that? No. Did they even intend to solve the Eizen's problem in the first place? No.

It is still a fact that Eizen was killed by them without second thoughts, and such act by no means should be justified. I'm not saying giving a mercy kill is necessarily evil; the problem is their indifferent attitude towards killing.

Well like I said, I stated that with the gun that shoots mana infused bullets specialized for healing Eizen of his Malevolence didn't work on Eizen. They "DID" go through documents.. There was a "MANUAL" in the cutscene that I mentioned. The gun Seigfried's original intent was to rid dragons of their Malevolence. Aside from this all forms of knowledge and evidence stating that it's impossible for Dragons to revert to Maliks. Also the only known Seraphim in Tales of Berseria also talking about this subject, I still stick to my statement that they did everything that was possible.

Edna is technically the only person who shouldn't be indifferent to the death of Eizen though. The only two people who know Eizen are her and Zavied.

Regardless, after reviewing the final cutscene in the Tales of Berseria Ex Dungeon. The only actual way to undo the dragon problem is to go through the Heavens Gate into the Heaven Realm and to disable the curse at the source. In order to open the Heavens Gate, Malaks and Humans need to live in harmony without malevolence. Only once this is achieved, the Heavens Gate will be opened and the curse will be lifted.

This is technically the job of the shepherd, but seeing as to how the ending of Zestiria shows a possible new Shepherd, it's a possibility this is a process that takes thousands of years and many generations.
