Can't finish the ending due to lag.
By the way, there's spoilers here. Obviously.

Hi, I got the game on GOG, and from what I played it's a bloody great game. However, I haven't been able to beat the whole game yet due to extreme lag. Whenever I go up to the computer/console area, the game stalls to less than 5 fps. This was on the lowest possible settings, lowest resolution, on hardware that's listed to be above the minimum requirements (Here's my specs,[pastebin.com] and here's the dxdiag file.[drive.google.com]) Due to this, it's near impossible to control the damn thing. If you try to move the thing, it takes 10 seconds to move, and if you let go, it takes another 10 seconds to stop. The screen doesn't turn on until 30 seconds are left (and in some cases, it doesn't turn on AT ALL) It also updates...every 10 seconds. The timer, of course, is still in real time, and it doesn't give a flying fu ck about how slow the game is. The only possible way you'd be able to finish it would probably be by doing the most precise keyboard-usage maneuvering using the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sound indication. And you want to know the best part? I don't even know how it gets that laggy. It doesn't look like it would make my system explode. He ll, I'm half convinced the reactor overloading is just the game's way of saying "We're going to blow your PC up!" Please for the love of god fix this. Or, better yet, send a settings file that contains even lower settings.

The graphic effect they use there does tank the frame rate. Through most of the game I see 120fps (which suggests vsync is on as that matches my refresh rate), when I got there it drops down to between the mid 70's and 90's.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Sounds more like a hardware issue, maybe it's time to upgrade.......:pathos:

Thanks, I'll be looking forward to that update!

I've been meaning to upgrade my PC for quite a while now, but it still runs most modern games (and, according to the system requirements, it should also run this as well.)

I hit the same issue. Most of the interiors ran ok but the quarry was laggy and the end imposable. Also design wise... A smart engineer would have aligned the dish first, but the level forces you to do everything the backwards and dangerous way, and all those unshielded areas and hazards in crew areas are so nonsensical that it breaks immersion.

I have to agree with the original post, as well as follow up. There was lag all over the second part of the game. Part 2 had lag in multiple places, notably the quarry, and the very end. The lag was so bad, it has been impossible to align the dish, and keep it aligned.

So bad in fact, I'm not going to continue playing until there's some fixes. I have the very last hurdle, and it's so frustrating, I'm putting the game aside until fixed.

Literally impossible to align the tower in your ending minigame.
Shame on you devs! ::steamsalty:
This is especially ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ because the rest of teh game was quite good!

Edit: It's not hardware lag; it's the minigame taking my control away every 5 seconsd for ~3 seconds, then taking anywhere from 1 to 5 seconds to get it back on target.... over and over with a TIMED failure!
This minigame also makes NO SENSE, because you could simply move the tower to point at the target and TAKE YOUR HAND OFF THE CONTROL..... GRRRRR!

Still playing on the gog version.

It's fine game-design wise. Sure, it makes no sense in reality, but games don't have to. Do you breathe and blink manually? No, unless you're playing a game that does that for comedic reasons.

I think I should've also mentioned that up until you get on the moon, the game runs at a solid framerate. My guess is that they just didn't get the landscaping optimized well? I mean, the intro part on Earth worked fine, so I have no idea.

Hey, at least they've acknowledged it's an issue and they're working on it. That's better than most developing studios, they just shi t out a game and don't care about it for the rest of eternity.

Don't misunderstand me; I heartily enjoyed the majority of this game.... the music, the environments, the story... etc.
I'm glad they'll fix it in time.

Also, I did finally beat it after MANY tries of that last minigame.

I didn't read the whole post as it's said to include spoilers but I'd like to let you know that I have the same problems from the beginning of the last chapter... I also had lag on the 5th chapter of the game, specially on the moon's surface. My card is an AMD RX 480. Didn't used to have any lag with Nvidia GTX 950 (which is quite inferior to RX 480) so I guess it's a matter of optimization

Hey guys,

Optimization of the game is indeed an on-going process. The part that was mentioned in this thread is a specific area we will investigate! Additionally we'll dive back into the rules of the "mini game" itself and improve upon it.

And WWDragon. I'm very happy to see you got past it and enjoyed the rest of your experience!

I'm really happy to read that the game is still being optimized. =) I just want to finish this wonderful game using the most of my GFX card to experience is to the maximum! Will be nice to know that amd customization has happened once the update is out! Thanks!

Given I saw it drop from a pretty solid 120fps to mid 70's at that point it is clearly not a hardware issue. That's on an i7 9700k with an RTX2070.

The final sequence is not lag it is because the astronaut is injured and keeps fainting causing you to lose control of the joystick. You have to try and anticipate this. I found that keeping the cursor as close to the middle helps and trying to anticipate the movement. It took me three attempts and I just made it with like 4 seconds left so it will be tight.

The final chapter does have frame rate issues, especially outside (the very beginning of the chapter) and almost always during action sequences where there is a lot going on.

Alright 'cause it sounded a lot like you were "shaming them" just for that one issue... also, glad to hear you managed to beat it. I eventually uninstalled it and looked up the ending online...

Thank you guys again for working on it, glad to hear it too.

I'm pretty sure it shouldn't respond after 10 seconds. This is on parts where he isn't fainting out as well. I had to go look up online too just to make sure it was indeed lag, and guess what? It was.
