Darius Petrescu - How the hell is this not fixed yet?

So I got to the Blackmail in Whitechapel mission, talked to Darius, and he walked out of the back of his house. I can see him, but I can't eavesdrop. Vampire vision shows no red cloud at the gate. I have reloaded, I have quit and come back, I have left the area and returned. None of this worked.

Then I look this up on google and reddit and this has been a KNOWN BUG FOR A YEAR.

So now my game is at a standstill and my only option is to restart?

Or do I refund if the devs just can't be arsed to have a palyable game?

Go to the gate and wiggle around while mashing your interact button. Eventually it will work. I had to do this for about 10 seconds before it took. Hope it helps. But I had to look up online to make sure I didn't miss something with it.

I just tried this spamming interact. I strafed left to right, forward to back, vampire vision on and off, targeting darius and not. Nothing worked.

ick.. sorry to hear it. I could send you my save after I complete it again, but I've gotten most of the game complete at this point and still haven't talked to him.

I'm probably just going to shelve the game on the off chance that they actually fix it. I enjoyed the game so far but this is a pretty bad bug to still be in the game.

Happened to me also, at first I thought I've missed the eavesdrop point, so I started exploring the area, did some side quests, only after a couple of hours I've realised this quest is bugged. I did several save game copies, but still couldn't bare a thought of replaying this part, so I tried reloading game several times, traveling to hideout, sleeping, yet quest was still bugged.

Eventually what worked for me was indeed standing in front of the gate, pressing vampire vision and action button like a madman, all while targeting Petrescu.

I've also encountered another bug a bit later in the game, Martin Nightingale got stuck on the bench, I couldnt even talk to him, and his event with Enid Gillingham never triggered for me, cause he never stood up that day to do the talking, lol. Luckily this bug was not game breaking, and fixed itself after a couple of nights. Still, another reason to regularly backup saves, since for some reason classic save system was never granted.

Had the same bug. I tried qith the vampier sense on and off targetet him ant not... Seems nothing worked. the afrter a few sec of vampier sense and targeting him the eavesdrop point spawned.

Yea you have to spam the buttons and wiggle at the gate, it's kinda dumb but I'm at least glad I can keep playing the game now.

this worked for me after spamming and wiggling didnt
i waited before but without targeting him :| with targeting it worket to just wait a few sec

He'll keep returning to his house, then going back out into the yard over and over again until you eavesdrop. I just went and did some random fights until the cloud appeared, which it only did the 3rd or 4th time I returned. (I didn't know this was a bug at the time.)

AH thanks!!! it worked.. targeted him and vampire vision and wiggling around it had the option of interacting / eves-dropping.. thanks for the tip guys!
