Haven't found any workarounds yet. After some digging, I read it *might* sort itself out later on as the story quest progresses and the option will show up when going through the dialogue again. There's also a way near the end of the game to get missing hints, but I haven't read anything solid about this method working on this particular quest.
I see... I will leave it for the next night, then, and hope the option comes back. I am not actually going to embrace them, but it bothers the role-player in me that I can't finish this the way it's intended.
I've read that the bug appears if you don't complete the quest in one setting (i.e. qutting), and that seems to be the case for both of us.
Nope, I have all the other hints for them. I'm just going to carry on with my game for a while and ignore them. Clayton can sort out his own love life. I give him medicine for free - this scarf is mine now, I killed for it fair and square and it'll go great with my spiffy coat.
lol :) hopefully this will solve itself after a couple of in-game nights, but I might have to accept the loss :/
You can't fail a hint after it's been unlocked, so I just gave the scarf to Cristina. She looked chilly and I was about to head into the sewers anyway. Would be a waste to get mysterious stains all over it. She was happy to get it back, so yay.
