Vampyr
Evolving Mesmerize!?
Okay, does anybody know how to improve your mesmerize level? I'm on the Blackmail quest and I'm finding a bunch of NPC's who are too high for me to mesmerize. But the demo videos we've seen thus far have shown the player with a high enough mesmerize skill to affect them.

I don't see the skill option in the Evolve menu when I go to bed, so I have no idea what I need to do to improve this!

I've been sucking down people whenever I get the chance and I'm around level 10 or 11 right now, and it still hasn't improved. I've seen a couple people suggest it improves automatically over the course of the main story. But like I said already, the demo videos showed the player with a much higher Mesmerize skill at this point in the story than what I currently have. So that doesn't seem to be the case.

Unless those people showing off the game used some kind of cheats to artificially bump it up, which sounds unlikely.

Maybe they just nerfed it so you just don't kill everyone when first approaching them?

It's tied to the storyline and the main quests from what I know

That is complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ if true, because the entire point of this game was that you would have the option to choose to quick and easy route, or the slow and hard route!

But then why did the player in the demo videos have a high enough mesmerize to affect NPC's associated with this quest, where as I do not? I've played through the main story up to this point, or at least I think I did, because I assume this is part of the main quest. SO unless they changed something during the development process, I should have the same level of Mesmerize.

The reason why you do not have the same level as the player in the Demo video is because the Demo video was made to show off what the game could do and having a high mesmerize level allows them to show off the game a bit easier. The mesmerize level is tied directly to the main story missions, do more of those and it will go up. It does suck that it takes so long to get up to even level 4 because then you can't just go and get all that sweet sweet exp.

Follow the main quest. They don't want that you kill everybody on sight and break all the storyline.

Which storyline? I was informed there would be multiple endings.

"Increasing the mesmerize skill isn’t as simple as leveling up the *other abilities** in Vampyr, as it is tied directly to quests. This means that to level it up, players will simply have to play through the main quest. For instance, after reaching Whitechapel and talking with Nurse Dorothy Crane, Dr. Reid’s mesmerize level will increase to 2.

"This has a major effect on how players will approach leveling in Vampyr. Whenever a citizen is embraced and killed, the world will shift and change for the worse, making it a good idea to keep characters alive until Dr. Reid’s mesmerize level allows him to suck the blood of multiple characters. Slowly killing characters off will create a situation where some areas will be no longer useful (merchants will stop stocking important goods)."

@GrandMajora

There are actually approx. 256 different endings, depending on what choices you make throughout the game; but 4 main ones endings each with a different cutscene.

Well, I think I've gotten the ending where I kill everybody and the ending where almost nobody dies. I say "almost" because I don't think I saved everybody who was trapped by NPC's. But I did get the "Not Even Once" achievement for not embracing anybody.

the main story line is reed searching for answers to sickness(a cure) that is running wild through areas, all the while he also looking for his maker and why he was turn in the first place. and as you travel through this story line you grow and memerize(ms) grows too.

Nice....

On a sidenote, I have yet to finish my first run through to endgame. I read about the four different endings here:

https://segmentnext.com/

...but didn't actually read any of the four ending spoilers found here:

https://segmentnext.com/2018/06/09/vampyr-endings-guide/

,,,and about the 256 possibilities when taking into consideration who to turn/sacrifice, kill or be left alone from another article or non-Steam forum (can't recall where exactly).

(Off topic) Here is a link to an article about someone admiting how much they have spent on Steam products I found interesting.

I just thought I'd share:
