Bugels and Trumpets
The flag has a spawn, but do Bugels and Trumpets do anything? You'd think they'd increase motivation and make reloading faster or something, otherwise, what are they there for? If they're in formation blowing their horns, drumming, like... wouldn't that be a good perk for a little faster reload, or are they just there to larp?

instrument sounds carry further than voice does

Officers could use them to coordinate the movements of their units with one another - if they knew how. Musicians could also amplify the orders given by the commanding officer so that everyone in the unit would hear them - if the musician knew his job and if anyone was listening at all.

Depends on the context. In a public match? No, musicians do nothing of value other then maybe add some immersion. On the company/regiment/whatevertheduck side? It's more mixed and highly dependent on each unit and how they play + the event. But honestly I would be surprised if any of them use those given how you can easily use external voip to solve communication problems and even in cases where a event restricts you to ingame voip it's not that hard to keep everyone together and on the same page.
Its for LARP

LARP? In a video game?

They can be very useful for volleys when a company's line is long or their is a fire by battalion, but they aren't used very much. Some buglers are actually playing what corresponds to the officer's orders, but most seem to be just playing random stuff, which makes it harder for the men to learn the bugle calls.

Field musicians on the battlefields as well as providing comms, also undertook stretcher bearer/munition re supply and medicial roles.https://symposium.music.org/index.php/54/item/10638-union-musicians-and-the-medal-of-honor-during-the-american-civil-war

For future reference, Shenandoah Regulars has a somewhat historical focus, and we are glad to have a serious instrumentalist where possible.

musicians seem pointless and annoying , they should be removed from the game especially in low population games. they confer no bonus and its usually just some troll blowing a horn to annoy, i mean you cant even mute it

I like them, keep em.
Good musicians repeat and relay orders, keep the flag in line, and if they are tactically aware they know when to be silent and when to make noise.

Bad musicians just toot and drum whatever whenever with no regard to what the officer is doing, they mindlessly make noise in ambush situations, and by virtue of just hammering the selections they make it impossible for other musicians to do anything useful, because whatever is selected first becomes default for others.

Nobody gets foced to choose such a role. And you can always downvote annoying buglers.

If they stay pointless it wont be long before no one plays them so you wont have to worry about them...unless you want to larp

Bringing a band to a fight indicates you expect to have something to celibrate afterwards.
