This is a PC game. So .... Its bulid for mouse and keyboard. I cant even imagine, to play it on a controller ... Far out (Been playing it about 1 1/2 year now)
The WASD purists will troll me, but I can't play any WASD game for more than about 30 minutes without my hand cramping up and thus have never finished a single game that way (including Half-Life and the STALKER series, which I would LOVE to play!)
So anyway, I had this in my cart, but decided to check on this and now it's back in my wishlist.
This looks like a great game that is MUCH better with a huge player base. Don't leave half of us out of it.
The game is awesome, and I will probably play with a Steam controller, as that works well with keyboard and mouse games.
xBox controller support would be awesome, as that is my preferred choice.
My arthritis in my left wrist, is due to playing decades with keyboard and mouse.
How anyone "enjoys" playing an FPS hunched over a keyboard, with their left hand and elbow bent in an unnatural position for more than 20 minutes at a time is beyond me. It's so uncomfortable... AND janky. I move like a frickin' brick. I absolutely hate it and have had to quit playing some awesome games because I just couldn't get through them.
And again... THIS game in particular needs a large, and intelligent, player base (minus the Bunny Hoppers, of course). Why leave us out.
This musket sway sounds like a much toned down version of trying to aim in GTAV while drunk. I would imagine it's not that big of a problem.
I didn't play k/m that long, but age and working with computers for decades has given me problems. Carpel tunnel and such.
Bit of a tangent, but have you tried one of those "sideways" mouse yet. It doesn't help for everyone suffering from Carpel Tunnel, but by rotating the hand 90 degrees to a more natural position some have found they help with strain.

Link probably don't work. But for keyboard use sometimes something like a Razer Tartarus agian removes the need for the hands to move repeatedly across a keyboard and instead the hand remains in a static position (although you'll probably not be able to use the top row of the keys)?
I use a tartarus in this game (as I can never remember the keys in the heat of battle), and once you've got the muscle memory down it's pretty instinctive to use.
