To be honest, the game is pretty short and not too difficult (I finished it in a bit less than 2 hours), but it must be played just because of the gorgeous hand-made animation and all the love, dedication and work behind it. The music is also remarkable and the characters are quite charming, but sadly I had no time to empathise with them as much as I'd like. Anyway, this game is worth a try, and I'm sure I will play it again in a not too distant future, just the same thing I used to do with Don Bluth's movies when I was a child.

I've been waiting for this game to release for a little while now and set aside some time today to play.
What I can say is that it's technically quite impressive, the music is very fitting, hand drawn graphics take me back to the days of Revolution's point and click adventures and the theme and story are entertaining and gripping.

Unfortunately there is an elephant in the room, as the game is easily completed within three hours. Paired with the very linear storyline means there is also not much in the way of replayability.

I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys point and click adventures with a beatiful theme, or if you are new to the genre. It will leave a smile on your face.

If however you are the kind of person who enjoys deep story, more of a challenge or really want to sink into a long, epic adventure, this title is probably not for you.

I wouldn't describe Acre as a game, but as an interactive animated short instead, with a Saturday-morning cartoon venier. If you're okay with an hour of gameplay and little challenge, then it might be worth grabbing on sale.

- One hour of play, not counting an extra run for achievements
- Can't skip cutscenes, most dialogue even on subsequent playthroughs. Annoying when trying to speedrun
- Little challenge. Boils down to finding what to click on to continue the story.
- Maybe 10 characters total (including animals), and it's hard to form any attachment to them.
- The shading on Lily's nose makes it resemble Dougal's, so i have a hard time seeing her as human
- Misc. bugs, see forums, but usually fixed by loading a save.

Acre's basic premise is a journey between two worlds to find a lost relative, and then to rescue a sibling. But the story is introduced so abruptly, it's as if you walked into a movie that's already started. You see the stars in action, but you don't really know them or connect to their struggles. The villain isn't fleshed out at all, nor is it clear why he needs to be hostile in the first place. And the ending, with its inexplicable Disney magic, made me shrug. So many questions, nothing is really answered.

I still recommend Acre for animation, adventure, and indie aficionados, but only if it comes at a budget price.

Achievement Hunters: Unmissable story achievements, but also a good number of missables. Some require you to repeat otherwise silly actions a dozen times, try to lose an inventory item, use/don't use the hints, perform actions perfectly on the first try, or input something you wouldn't know without having completed the game. The speedrun is actually quite easy, your biggest obstacle being the animations and unskippable dialogues. Two full plays required, unless using a guide.

Little Acre is the latest game from my favorite adventure series creator Charles Cecil who was behind Broken Sword series. Broken Sword 1 and 2 are my favorite point&click adventure games and I was very excited about Little acre.
This game is very simple and cute, hardcore adventure fans might not like it because it’s not a challenging game, but I personally loved it very much. You don’t always need to be stuck on one puzzle for hours to have fun. I personally like logical puzzles more than challenging illogical ones. It’s hard to get stuck in this game for long, but my oh my it’s a beautiful journey. The graphics are hand drawn with nice animations, the environments are gorgeous and characters are cute.
The gameplay is traditional point&click. When little Lily finds out that her father has disappeared she embarks on a journey to another world to find him solving puzzles on the way. You also get to control her father Aidan and see everything from his perspective.
Yes it’s short, yes it’s easy, but you should give this game a chance, I promise you will smile and feel happy playing it.

The Little Acre has plenty of superb characters, animations, and charm. It seriously lacks story content though, almost as if it wanted to be only the first episode of a larger series, but somehow decided against it.

The Little Acre strives on its beautiful animation and backgrounds, plus on its memorable characters and great dialogue.
Just do not expect anything large in scale: you can count the entire cast on one hand and the game lasts maybe an hour at best.

The length is smaller issue compared to the shortcomings of the story. We spend most of our time with the protagonists—a single father and his adventurous daughter, who both end up on a cartoonish fantasy world—but we never really learn any background information on a single story element.
Essentially, this is a game where things happen and it hopes that the cute animations and wonderful characters can carry it through its short playtime.

A short little point-and-click adventure, with rough edges. The major strength is the excellent voice acting, artwork and animation. The very short, and often disjointed, narrative is the largest weakness of the game.

The Little Acre is a game about Aidan who, searching for his missing father, accidentally travels to another dimension. And his young daughter Lily who follows after him in her own attempt to rescue her father.

The story is the largest weakness of the game. It is short, and it feels like many things were planned but never made it into the game. At the start you are simply tossed into the story and left to figure out the details from implicit references, as if you knew the characters, their relationships and what had happened. You don't, and therefore some of the early puzzles make little sense.

As the game progresses, the second problem of the story becomes apparent. The mood of the story is light, but at the same time the story mixes in some adult elements, such as the fear of losing a child. This clashes badly with the with the overall mood of the story, and it becomes quite jarring when a character goes from what should have been a devastating blow to a friendly conversation within a sentence or two. It is as if the writer couldn't decide if the game should be serious or not, and while writing in darker elements constantly returns to the lighter basic mood.

The end of the game comes far too soon, and many things are left unresolved. There is quite a lot of deus-ex-machina to achieve a happy ending. It leaves a feeling of wasted potential, and there are many scenes where I have a feeling additional puzzles where planned, but never made it into the game.

Visually, the backgrounds and animations are a treat. There is the occasional odd clash of art style between the cell-shaded characters and the hand-drawn style of the backgrounds. But overall, it works very well.

The difficulty is low and the puzzles mostly have logical solutions. Clickable spots are clearly marked, so pixel-hunting is avoided. The game usually restricts you to one or a few scenes, so there is a limited number of things to test and backtracking is almost completely eliminated. There is also a built-in hint system.

In the end, it feels like a short little introduction to a world, that is never fleshed out. The presentation is excellent, and some of the characters (such as Lily) are memorable. It's a shame that the game is held back by the narrative.

You came for Terroriser (YouTuber who voices Aidan) and got something completely different from his material.

After completing this game, I felt compelled to leave a review. This is a classic, hand-drawn 2D point and click adventure games (much to the likes of monkey island, full throttle, deponia series, broken sword, etc) and these kind of games are almost extinct due to the higher demand for action packed 3D games like call of duty, battlefield, GTA, as such. This game does not disappoint its genre. It has a good, solid, adventurous plot, it's well-written, the game's quality is excellent (in terms of graphics, programing, music, sound, etc) and does not resemble a low budget and low quality game, despite the low asking price of the game. And personally, I really like how the game isn't overly complicated or practically impossible to figure out the puzzles/solutions without referring to a walkthrough, such as those classic adventure games that I mentioned above. This type of gameplay is no longer very practical (I'm looking at you: Thimbleweed park. lol) in this new era of gaming generation (whereby the only way you can solve most of the puzzles is to try everything you have in your inventory on everything around you everywhere you go). I'm glad I can finish the game without referring to any walkthrough, though I use the in-game hints once in a while.

So, to sum up, if you're an avid point and click adventure gamer, you really shouldn't pass this by. It's a must-play title. A rare gem that's really hard to come by nowadays. If you're not an adventure gamer as such, you may or you may not like this title, depending on your personal preferences. But I really do urge you to give it a chance. It's a really good change of scenery among all those 3D action packed games and it wont take up much of your time. I manage to complete it within 2 hours.

As for the downside of the game, as mentioned above, it's really short. I estimate it will take about 2 to 4 hours average for anyone to finish this game.

Nice little adventure point and click it's quite nice and little so expect to breeze through it but its fun while it lasts with nice art and sound and the voice work is definitely punching above its weight class (for an indy low budget game).

Developed by Pewter Games, the Irish studio is simply composed by two developers, but their work of love for Point & Click adventures sure reflects on The Little Acre, a short but adorable adventure.

Life at this little acre is never dull. Aidan tries his best to raise his young daughter Lily. His father (Lily’s grandfather), is always busy with some new invention, and even the family dog Douglas is always busy making sure Lily doesn’t do anything dangerous! As interesting as it seems, their life will only get even more alluring when Aiden finds a strange Portal in the yard shack. What could it be? More importantly, where does it lead to?

The Little Acre is story of pursuing your loved ones, even if that leads to the most unknown and dangerous place. A simple but very well developed storyline, with a great direction and production. As the narrative goes, it’s a really fun title, and follows a very intriguing storyline, one that will surely keep one curious throughout the adventure.

Dialogues suit the game and makes it impossible not to love every character. I personally went through this title always smiling, since the humour is very well placed, and the events are charismatic. Although it may leave a trail of a title directed to the young ones, The Little Acre is actually very family-friendly, and equally enjoyable across all ages. The subliminal humour of Lily dealing with her imagination, or Aidan endeavours to understand his father's inventions are strong points in the narrative.

One of the most amazing points of this indie game is definitely the art direction. It’s like watching a cartoon, and a really good one for that matter. Hand drawn, and with amazing attention to detail, the characters come to life exceptionally well. Their expressions are satisfying to look at, as they portray so many feelings through facial and body expressions. The design is fluid, colorful and renders blend perfectly naturally with the background. The artistic choice is not pretentious and it’s entertaining to watch the fusion from cutscenes to gameplay.

The Little Acre is very appropriate for newcomers to the Point & Click genre, as it delivers a simple gameplay style with no particular mechanics other than some puzzles. Players control both Aiden and Lily as they progress through story events, and both plays out the same, focusing on Interaction with objects, and NPC’s.

Without a significantly large area to explore, levels consist of small scenarios with a main goal to accomplish, and once completed, the game moves on to another chapter. It’s a story-driven adventure, and the puzzles involved are very reminiscent of older Point & CLick games, with the exception of the difficulty, that is really intuitive and easy.

It’s possible to finish the game in just 40 minutes, and 60% of that time are cutscenes or dialogues that are unskippable. This does not mean your first time with the game will take this time, since interacting with every character and object, plus the initial exploration, may extend your experience up to 3 hours.

Voice acting is another part of this adventure. One can tell they were recorded in a humble studio, but despite the quality itself, the talent and dedication is there. One thing I personally like about actors in The Little Acre, is how they don’t simply read the paper in front of them, but rather play the character at hand. Simple means, but high quality professionalism.

The soundtrack is pretty nice, and flows really well within this small adventure. Changes accordingly with the mood of the events, and the simple melodies create a great mix of smooth, peaceful acts, as well as the deep and mysterious pace, in a minimalist neo-classic composure.

The Little Acre is a sweet little indie Point & Click title that absolutely deserves recognition. Although I personally felt the ending was somehow rushed regarding the cutsceneand events, I deeply enjoyed the story, characters, and design! Highly recommend to anyone who either loves a great story or enjoys Point & Clicks.
