Open starchart, once on starchart select the Headquarters (Concordia station). There you will see how much Materials you gain from Headquarters alone.
Open starchart, there you will find several Civilian Tasks, Survey Zone, Salvage - Derelicts, and several others. Depending on the task type you receive certain Resources as rewards, if the task was successfully executed. Try doing Salvage Tasks to gain Materials.
To construct a Junk Reclaimer one must have the Salvage Depot Module on Concordia Constructed to level 2
Using your War Fleets attack nearby Hostile Garrisons, to capture the enemy zone. All the Reclaimers inside that zone will belong to you, and produce Materials over time.
this option would be great !
Once again this is like MB, raiding villages and caravans ^^
what was true before with arrows and swords is true today with bullets and rockets and in game with beam and plasma weapons. ^^
Another point I would suggest is to just explore. Know the zones and regions around you to find what areas you want to expand in and what resources you can take. This is very time consuming to be honest as T-drives can become expensive and trying to make the gates? Oh boy ... anyway, if you have a pretty sufficient income of your resources (I started exploring the map at roughly 100+ of gas and junk each 'month') and you will generate those resources with minimal expenses as you will only be exploring.
Also civilian tasks, you will need to know which ones are which and how they payout. For junk look for any junk tasks, etc. I believe the tasks that do not have a resource name in them simply have a chance of giving all resources with completed, though I don't know since they fleet completion mission does not also include what mission it was. As for the reward amount you will want to keep an eye on higher difficulty missions or missions that require more than one fleet. Don't shy from difficult missions, you only lose out on some gas that you spend when you sent the fleet out (and some credits but gas is more valuable in my opinion).
There are also perks to increase your credit and resource gains, perk points are earned every 2 levels so make sure to take the time to view the perk descriptions. Also once you do get a relative stream of resources going you will be able to unlock the research station which will also open up ways to upgrade the resource extration points, though that requires a pretty large pool of resources.
It is doable but it will take time and some learning on the players part. Perhaps the future prologue could be adjusted to help inform the player of these points or maybe just stick it to a wiki? Still there are some things you will need to learn.
Slight correction - you used to get perk points every 5 levels but that changed a while ago when we remade the class and leveling system.
Now you actually get a perk point every 2 levels! Note that the maximum player level is 50.
Relics (Artefact vaults) should only give skill points, but when you start the game you basically get a couple of extra perk points because you unlock them through dialogue in the prologue
Thanks for the correction, I had one perk point when I started the game (skipping prolugue) and only got the second one at level 5, however after some time of playing (and I did in between) eventually there was another perk point, perhaps after I restarted the game due to a bug or sending in a support ticket, can't say for certain but eventually there was another point. I am also still level 5 so I did not level up for another. I will keep a closer eye out for future levels.
Since there is an option to skip prologue I believe players should be given the same number of perk points as they would if they did the prologue (unless prologue does only give one, I haven't done it yet in this patch, I recall it putting points into certain perks depending on what you chose, which again isn't available by skipping it now).
This will be fixed in the update later this week.
As for the rest of discussion:
- Nice observations Luceon!
- Materials is the most important resource, it determines your fleets which determine your faction strength so idea is that it is the most scarce resource unless you work on it. And there is, of course, a choice if you want to rush your economy. You will have have to focus Ore and Gas instead of materials to optimize gains.
- Conquest will most likely have different progression but we are very interested to hear your opinions about the current system, having in mind that greater influx of materials would severely influence progression and decrease time to conquer galaxy and actually reducing need for managing resources and focusing solely on producing as many ships and rushing exclusively for junk reclaimers.
- I am kind of, internally, pushing idea for innate t-drive implementation - use it whenever it recharges(natively) and T-drive equipment just allows you greater distances and/or instant refresh.
i really like the tdrive idea, personally
