What do each of the classes do?(Sharpshooter/Marauder/Vanguard)

Having played SPG 2 and liking it quite a bit, with the 0.9 update I thought I'd finally plunge into this game, but after having done the first into bit I was prompted to select one of the following 3 classes:

* Marauder.
* Sharpshooter.
* Vanguard.

Google suggested the Marauder is probably some up close and personal class based off of a post from a long time ago, but I don't see any ingame description nor anything about these classes on the SPG warlords wiki here: http://starpointgemini.gamepedia.com/SPGW_Skills_Perks
And I'd like some information before I have to redo the intro another 2 times just to maybe get a vague idea about them.

Could someone explain a bit more in depth to me what the 3 different classes do and what their impact is long term?

Vanguard is the get up close and personal, marauder likes to hide in the shadows and deal brutal deadly strikes, while the sharpshooter likes to kick it from afar.

But an important note is that you're no longer stuck with the class of your choice. You can respec and shuffle your skills at any time. Just have a chit-chat with the Gladiatrix quartermaster. You can then pick for example a Vanguard skill, pair it off with 2 marauders skills and then take one from the sharpshooter class. :)

So the skills on 1-4, you can now choose to example on 1 from vdnguard, on 2 from vanguard maroder and the 3 from shrapshooter? +__+

Yep yep :). At the start of the game, when you're creating your character, you choose from the 3 presets, but then simply go over to the Gladiatrix quartermaster near Phaeneros and switch 'm shuffle as much as you want :).

I think you have to first complete the Arena battles before the quartermaster provides you with the opportunity to respec your class!

Nah, actually you should be able to do it right away, but you have to pay for it. If you win the arena, then he'll give you a freebie. If it's not working like this, then we either have a bug, or I completely misunderstood the guys :D.

I just tried to get a free respec after doing the first two difficulty tiers in Gladiatrix and didn't get it. :x

Maybe it free after you becom champion? Start from 1 lvl so dont do it for now.

Well, I became the champion of Concordia arena, but I'm not getting a free respec. Does it only apply to certain Gladiatrixes or is it a bug?
I tried using it and he took 1 mil from me. Good that I saved the game previously. :p

Also, what's that unfairness; I'm battling in the arena that only accepts gunships, corvettes and frigates... And the champion is flying a destroyer!!!
