Declaration of War - Pop-up
I think it's really annoying getting a pop-up everytime u click on a neutral or friendly station at starchart. Can u implement an option to turn this off?

I'll relay it to the guys so we think of something.

Wouldn't mind if it was at least a gameplay option. (Maybe with a tip explaining the OTHER way to do it)

Yeah this will certainly need to be tweaked.
Especially now that you can also declare war on factions using the Reputation panel when you talk to the ambassadors.

We tried changing this so that the Declare War pop-up only shows if you right-click on a fleet on the starchart - the reasoning was that you would more likely travel to a station in peace, but when you're intercepting a fleet this is considered a hostile move. This fell apart however when we remembered that there are factions that don't have any fleets but only control a single station - declaring war with that faction might become more difficult to figure out.

Currently, the best course of action seems to be to interpret right clicks on neutrals/friendlies as a passive action at all times (a simple Go-To), if you want to attack a target however, you would have to hold CTRL while right clicking.

Why not put it on the sidebar menu that appears when you left click on a structure or fleet?

You upgrade structures and manage fleets using that, why not be able to declare war with it too?

I agree. Along with the Diplomacy screen this is the most sensible place to put that button, and it would make sure everyone finds out about the option without it being nonsensical or getting in the way every time you do a job for reputation and levelling.

Interesting, maybe instead of a 'Declare War' button we could put an 'Ambassador' button there as well that opens up the Diplomacy screen? You could declare war that way, and getting to the diplomacy screen would be more streamlined as well

That's a good thought right there :) Less to-the-point, perhaps, but certainly more in keeping with the tone and style of the game. It took me a while before I chanced upon the diplomacy screen purely by accident, when exploring the menu.
