What is the meaning of "Solari Concord"? Latin and English?
Solari = latin? = comfort/strenghten?
or
(Sol)aris = Sun?...

concord = unity?

So possible "Sun-unity" with words from latin and english?

I'am really interested in the meaning of "Solari Concord" - (The own faction name).

[Sry for my question]

But thx for answers :-)

Concord would better associate with the word Agreement or Pact. Unity is fine, it's interchangeable with expression in that it's indicate of a group with a common understanding.

Solari is self explanatory.

Concord = Concordance = Agreement.

Solari is probably a proper noun my guess would be its maguffin.

Hmm, a valid question. I didn't write the story nor came up with those names so I'm not really sure. Our writers/scripters might give a better answer. :)

The word "Concord" is sometimes used as a generic "faction" label. Like calling a group "Alpha Team", or a bigger group "Mango Platoon", on the highest levels, you can call the entire faction the "Watermelon Concord". It has its own independent meaning, which as mentioned, can be "agreement" or "unity", but within a faction name, it's just a label saying this is a large group in a position of power.

Solari is probably a reference to Sol, which is the star from which humanity descended, implying the Solari Concord is a group who see themselves as having a rightful claim to rulership based on ties to humanity's origins - or want to appear that way.

What oblivion said.. the concord are the last group of refugees to arrive in gemini from the sol system.. so they see themselves as "solarians" i suppose :)

"Sol Union" or "Union of Sol" if you want to wordplay a bit.

Thx so much for all the answers :-)

(Sol)arians = People from the "Sol System" that make sense.

1 reason for the question was, because i want start a new game with the Story. And i want that my lastname (from my character), fits the whole faction name.

So i want understand what "Solari" and "Concord" means :-)

Maybe the Dev ask the writers and we get a "official answer" to that question. My hope is here! :-)

Ex imperial from the Sol system and concord means agreement or pact so the Sol Pact would best describe it imo

Sorry to be late to the party, but Stuka just posted the answer basically.

Both words are latin actually.
Solari (from Solarium) : turned toward the sun (or taxes, but I think this is more about the sun). Related to the fact they comes from the Sol system (international denomination, in latin)

Concord : from Concordia, also a godess. Mean agreement, harmony, that kind of thing.

Which is accurate, they are from Sol (so turned toward their root, the sun), and it's an "harmonious" agreement between various factions (they are lead by a council apparently).

In general English I'd take "Solari" and "Solarian" to be variants of the same word form. Either one is valid; which one you use is essentially a stylistic choice. "Solari Concord" is a bit easier to say.

Ok ok i understand now after so many really good answers. - Thx too all :-)

But last question: Why is the faction symbol a eagle? I know why the faction is yellow designed (to fits the "sol" theme), but why a eagle?

And maybe in later patches we can design and change our own faction symbol?

My guess is egyptian mythology - Ra :)

This should already be moddable but we'll look into allowing customization like this in the future!

That's the U.S. symbol. "Bald Eagle" is unique to North America. In most modern and futuristic wargames, powerful factions come from this region with advance technology for domination. So, I believe the scripters of this game have this in mind.
