Ive seen strats for just going up in the corner on either side, but I personally like getting the kapala and chilling in the bottom whipping everything. The blood heals you as fast as you get damaged and the iframes from getting hit can save you from the witch doctor skulls.

You can do this. But it angers the woman. Also you miss out on the additional reward of 24 bombs and 24 ropes.

I recommend putting Excalibur in waddler in the ice caves so you can bring it into the challenge and easily kill everything in one of the top corners

I got gud since posting this, and nowadays my strategy is to bomb the left/right-most spawner and the one above it, then hide in the corner. While you're in the corner, if those two spawners are gone, nothing will spawn anymore and you can just wait.

That is the easiest way to do it, but if you properly clear the Sun Challenge you get a bag with 24 bombs and 24 ropes, so I do recommend trying to get good at actually doing the challenge. (If you manage to bring the Clone Gun to the Sun Challenge, you can turn that into 96 bombs and 96 ropes.)
