Operation Forrest was a search and destroy operation done by the 7RAR in late 1967 to January 1968.

Rung Sac is the name of a jungle that was part of the area they operated in. It held numerous VC bases and was an area frequently used by the NVA after they had crossed in from Laos and Cambodia. The Australians cleared it out occasionally.

The Rung Sat Special Zone was an area of swampy Riverland that the American 9th infantry Division and the Navy Seals operated in. I don't think Aussies will be on that map once the update is released, it's likely a US Army map.

You're thinking of the Mekong Delta. That's where the 9th infantry division and navy seals were.

Rung Sac or Rung Sat was in Phuoc Tuy province.

Sounds like the zone simply encompassed a large area of the Rung Sac forest, which were then divided into sectors. So Aussies got one of the sectors. I mean it's 1258 sq. km after all - and it intersects with the Mekong. So...both right?

It was not.
Phuoc Tuy bordered the zone but Australians didn't operate there.
It was originally Marine jurisdiction, but was quickly handed over to the US 9th infantry division as well as the USN.

Operation Goodwood, Battle of Hat Dich its also reffered to due to the operation name sharing the WW2 operation to capture Caen. Extensive patrolling in the Rung Sat Special zone and The Hat Dich area by 1 RAR. Along with battalions from 4 RAR/NZ and 9 RAR. It was an australian led operation of divisional sise with allied support.

Yep, sorry, you are right to an extent, the Aussies did enter the Zone in that op. However Rung Sat Special Zone only bordered Phuoc Tuy province, it was not a part of it. Operation Goodwood was an out of province op for the Aussies. The op encompassed several areas in and around Phuoc Tuy.
So while the Aussies patrolled and worked on the edges of the zone in that op, it wasn't an area they frequented by any means. It was an area run exclusively by the Americans

I was under the impression that that map would be a US map since the 9th infantry division became famous for operating so well there throughout most of the war.
If it is an Australian map, it seems like an odd choice since Goodwood seemed to be the only operation conducted by the Aussies in that area.
Why not go with Coral, Balmoral, Bribie, Coburg etc?
Goodwood was a huge operation though, so I guess it makes sense, thanks for reminding me.
If you look at pictures of the 9th infantry division half the time they're on boats and the other half they're knee deep in water. They were much deeper in. The Australians were at least on dry land. Which the map represents. Not many mangroves.
