Even If it was added, it would be unbalanced, essentially being an M79 but with an AR on top. What makes the grenadier class balanced is its lack of a good primary.
In terms of percentage of the force using under barrelled grenade launchers it seems the Australians used them the most. Both the earlier XM148 and M203 mounted on their L1A1s. You can see footage and images of them quite easily actually. But when you look at Americans you pretty much never see them. The Americans ditched the XM148 in 1966 and didn't start using the M203 until 1969.
That is true. They did mentioned a GL for it. It would be a spigot type launcher though rather than an underbarreled launcher.
It would be a huge downgrade in RS2.
We've got a whole team of grunts shooting rifles already, we don't need the grenadiers shooting rifles too.
The GL is effective up to like 400m, as long as your arc stays within acceptable limits (like shooting at a window at max range is probably a bad idea.
