The M16A1 M203 40mm Grenade Launcher
Hey ! What about the M203 Grenade Launcher for M16A1 ? It's planned or something ? Maybe to unbalanced or not...i think it's need to be in the game...

I don't believe it was used a great deal, especially in the late 60s which is when most maps are based.

Even If it was added, it would be unbalanced, essentially being an M79 but with an AR on top. What makes the grenadier class balanced is its lack of a good primary.

yes but it's stay a major weapon of Vietnam war
It wasn't a major weapon. There were still significantly more M79s for the rest of the war. They didn't even give them to the ARVN.

In terms of percentage of the force using under barrelled grenade launchers it seems the Australians used them the most. Both the earlier XM148 and M203 mounted on their L1A1s. You can see footage and images of them quite easily actually. But when you look at Americans you pretty much never see them. The Americans ditched the XM148 in 1966 and didn't start using the M203 until 1969.

If you want more grenade launcher, pray they will add the mas-49 next, on the poll they stated they want to add both a sniper and riflegrenade variant for it

That is true. They did mentioned a GL for it. It would be a spigot type launcher though rather than an underbarreled launcher.

♥♥♥♥ no... way to ruin the game. There’s already enough annoying M79, I don’t want to get killed half the time by some grenade launcher spammers

We were still using M79's throughout both Iraq wars, as it is still more accurate and has a longer effective range in comparison to the M203.

It would be a huge downgrade in RS2.

the way I see it if you have a grenade launcher you should be using it all the time instead of shooting a rifle, you're wasting your role at that point

We've got a whole team of grunts shooting rifles already, we don't need the grenadiers shooting rifles too.

The GL is effective up to like 400m, as long as your arc stays within acceptable limits (like shooting at a window at max range is probably a bad idea.

This was exactly the reason the M203 was slow to catch on with the military. In combat trials, grenadiers with 203s were commonly observed to be firing their rifle far more often than using the grenade launcher. This wasn't an issue when grenadiers were armed with the M79. Factor in the M79s better range, accuracy and ease of reloading and it's obvious why it's hung around so long. There's still US military units using the '79 due to its superior range compared to the 203.

I wouldn't mind having M203 as an alternative to m79 as long as it's historically accurate. Could be balanced with smaller effective range (150 m) and reduced ammo (say, 3xM16 mags and 6x40 mm HE rounds).
