Game can't play downloaded maps
Used to be that when I downloaded a new map when I clicked on a server hosting the new map that it would download and I would be able to play. Nowadays when I try to go into a server with a custom map it doesn't work anymore, just gets stuck at 100% and stays like that for a while. Sometimes it would reach 100% and then just reset back to saying "Size OK 0.0% downloaded" and stay like that forever. I tried to subscribe to the maps in workshop, when that didn't work I deleted the local download cache, resubscribed, saw the files download into my computer's workshop directory, tried to play that map only to arrive at the same problem. When I tried to play HOG's server with the +damage mod but the download would be stuck at 0% before I get kicked back onto the main menu with some message about a failure to open file.

Is this a result of some new update? I haven't played for a while but in the past this kind of thing never happened.

Any of your hard drives full?

Nah fam there's like 20 some gigs still left in my drive.

I had this issue a couple times, it was because some maps were duplicated in both workshop and Cache directories.

Check for duplicates or remove every custom map in both folders and let the servers re-download the maps.

How would I exactly go upon doing this?
PanzerSchrekt Mar 1, 2019 @ 10:04pm
So I went into my steamapps directory and deleted all the data from workshops directory. The download folder had all its content deleted, so was content folder's data. I even deleted all the .acf files from the directory. Then I made sure to unsubscribe from every map and mod from the workshop. Then when I restarted the game and went into a server running custom maps, the map downloaded, I checked and saw the file in my workshop's content directory, steam also showed that the workshop content was downloading. However upon reaching 100% download completion, it just reset back to 0%. I went to check if the map was in my directory and it was indeed in my directory, but the game was just stuck with the same problem I had yesterday: the custom would download and show up as 100% downloaded but the meter would reset to "size ok complete 0.0%" I tried to let it wait but nothing happened.

Also I don't know what you were referring to when you said "Cache" is that a folder in the directory?
Kets Mar 1, 2019 @ 10:20pm
Yeah, that's the same issue i had, if you wait for a while that 0.0% will slowly go up.

Documents/My Games/Rising Storm 2/ROGame/Cache

After removing both map folders set this launch option: -NOHOMEDIR , this way the game wont use Documents for storing maps, i don't have this issue since i set that up.

Ok man you're going to have to walk me step by step, I don't know computers much.
When you say remove both the map folders I'm assuming you mean "Documents/My Games/Rising Storm 2/ROGame/Cache" and the entire "steamapps/workshop" directory folders?
And then setting up " -NOHOMEDIR" in which directory?
Also I deleted all the files besides "Binaries" and "ROGame" in the "My Games/Rising Storm 2" along with all the files in "ROGame" besides "Cache" "Config" "Localization" and "Logs".
Did I screw up?

That's actually not much and could be the issue.

Simply unsubscribing from maps will automatically delete them from the workshop folder. Just not the cache folder.

With the cache folder it is documents/my games/Rising storm 2/ROGame/cache as you know. Deleting the folder itself or just the content inside works either way. This cache folder is where maps will download too directly from the server. They won't go into the workshop folder when you download from the server. The only things that end up in the workshop folder are your subscruptions. As I said before unsubbing automatically deletes it from that workshop folder in steamapps.

For the -NOHOMEDIR thing it's Steam launch option. Basically means the game doesn't use the documents folder for anything. Not sure where it puts it all though. In your steam library right click on the game then click Set launch options. Then you just put that in. Not an official solution for this I might add.

I didn't subscribe to any map and i ended up having 10gb worth of duplicated maps on the workshop folder for some reason.

nohomedir just puts the ROGame folder on the same directory the game is installed and yeah it might not be the solution for your issue, just saying what i did to ble able to play custom maps again.
PanzerSchrekt Mar 2, 2019 @ 8:51pm
Alright so I deleted the both the workshop folder and the mygames Rising Storm 2 files. But when I logged in the game it wouldn't save my settings. So I finally went to launch options and typed in what you suggested and it worked out. I could save my settings and the maps downloaded and played well. Thanks for the help fam!
