idk, looks more like re-mesh of vietnam. I hope they implement some new features like body armor or something. Even weapons are the same, m16/SVD... I've played these games before. I feel like they should have went further into future from vietnam war to make it distinct enough. Large scale is sus.. how large? larger than RS2? Do we really want tanks in our games?

I know everyone has different opinions, but,

yes, fine with me, too many modern games (more Cold War plz), hopefully, YES (plz add T-80).


In all seriousness, I wouldn’t mind a modern game with the RS2 formula, but I find the Cold War era and before much more interesting imo. I saw a video by them why they chose the 1980s, and I think some of the points summed it up quite nicely — more modern, but not modern enough to use holographic sights and stuff for everything.
Additional thoughts: great period for a WW3 game — Russia/Soviet Union actually may have been more competent than their modern equivalents, may have actually put up a fight against NATO with their much larger and more advanced (relative to year) military of the time.
Lack of drones and stuff, which either have to be unrealistic, or will have to be a frustrating part of the game I genuinely believe, (I am not a modern warfare expert, my knowledge of history on this stuff drops off more after the 1980s, but from my understanding — drone warfare sounds very unfair if it were to be implemented).
More options for scenarios, if not in the released game but for DLC? They talked about one of the settings being Cuba or an Invasion of Florida, which sounds super cool — which isn’t going to be in the released game because it would be too hard they decided for now, but, invading the US mainland and stuff like that is ‘more believable’ in Soviet era than modern era tbh. And since the Soviet Union is bigger, all sorts of areas are more believable to be in game imo.
Also while some of the weapons will be the same, I don’t think they’ll be the ‘exact same’. We’ll probably see a lot more updated weapons like AK-74s and such, ‘80s stuff the US would use instead of just ‘60s, stuff the Soviet Union would use and not just the hand-me-downs of Vietnam, and maybe even more factions later on — instead of just AVRN and Australia for RS2:V, we may see stuff from Britain, West Germany, France, Italy, Eastern Block, etc.


Sorry for wall of text, I understand modern games are popular so it isn’t a criticising of your opinion. I was just pointing out the positives of a cold war shooter, we don’t get enough of those — games default to modern times/Middle East war times, we don’t get many late Cold War stuff tbh. I am happy we are getting one, and in the realistic style of the RO/RS series.

So what is good about cold war period? AK-74 is just like AKM but lower caliber. What about US? some fully-auto m16 variant with 30-round mag? The environment all looks grey and dull and desaturated. What should I be looking forward to? Shooting some FN-FAL or whatever that was?

Wait till you hear about this game called counter-strike. Theyve re-released it 3 or 4 times now with the exact same weapons and characters and maps

still not sure how I feel about it. while I love cold war gone hot scenarios I kind of would prefer a real war for a RO/RS successor. Hope Im wrong tho and that the devs make it work. I also dread that this is the beginning of the end for Rising Storm 2.

what the community wants is the local chat working again.
for personal taste I would try to reduce the mantle as much as possible and increase the jump by 5 cm, I remember when RS2 just came out you were stopped by 2 cm steps on Hue City, which were then leveled by putting a transparent surface above them to overcome them.
I hope they don't make the same mistake when they come out. the gameplay must be fluid, smooth, fast.
also I don't want useless objects and junk inside the rooms where you always remain stuck, people must be able to run without having to use mantle every 2 seconds to get past a chair, a trash can, a piece of ♥♥♥♥ on the floor.
So glad 83 the game is given a second chance! Hope this will be a direct upgrade to RS2 V:emofdr:
What I really want is rs2 remake in unreal 5 with more destruction and longer draw distance. Optimisation and finish what was planned for it.

Bruh you don't like the performance draining nanite and lumen features? Bruh I can't even believe you don't like smeary, ghosty DLSS upscaling technologies that makes the game look like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥. You could play RS2 at 4k and see every sharp pixel a mile out? Enjoy not seeing ♥♥♥♥ now, chud.
