Any old vietcong players around ?

oh just found out Men of Valor vietnam is now released on steam :-) nowhere near the greatness of Vietcong but still hold nostalgic value and will be a good varm up until Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is released http://store.steampowered.com/app/411330

Funny. I tweeted EA about that a few days ago, and a few people liked it, so you're not alone!

Vietcong 1 probably my all time fav. Storm map was a blast on multiplayer. Loved setting up complex traps using multiple tripwires and claymores

From the time I got the Vietcong demo on the cover of a PC magazine, I was completely and hopelessly hooked.

Played for about 8 years on the Auscong ladder, [ADP] sure was a force to be reckoned with....

After several years away from PC gaming, I have been looking forward to another game to replace it; hoping this will be it.

Still have VC installed, so if anyone wants to play, let me know....

- any performance issues on newer hardware, refer to this thread: http://www.vietcong.info/portal/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=899 (I suggest 'fit textures in video memory' option, most modern vid cards have plenty of fast vram, had a massive performance boost for me)

Is it possible to still buy it anywhere? I remember having a 'shareware' of it (friend was letting ppl borrow the cd)

I really want to buy it now.

You won't find it for sale digitally, but you could probably score a used retail copy on eBay or Amazon. However, there are other means of acquiring a copy, if you catch my drift. Considering that it's no longer for sale, and is no longer supported, it's practically abandonware.

Once you do do get a hold of the game, be sure to head over to the "Downloads" section at http://www.vietcong.info/ for patches and whatnot. Its page on PCGamingWIki (http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Vietcong) is also worth having a look at.

I use to play a lot of BFV and this looks very much like it. What do you know. I've been waiting for dice to make a true battlefield game and this is more like a a battlefield than what ever they have been making all this years.

Well said....BF1 is a complete joke and has been since BF went to console

I dont like BF1, playing it is like getting your hands primed to do something nasty to yourself

Vietcong is probably my all time fav, if it wasn't for the lack of time for any game I would still play it. Last time I have played was late 2015 I believe. Already some trick with server browser was required.
Anyway around 2003 was a good time to be FPS gamer. Can't say I have come across anything with the same immersive efect on me.
Looks like Tripwire has some old Veterans but I wonder if they can mach the grim raw yet humorous atmosphere the Czechs from Pterodon have created.
They've been on a trip to Vietnam to get their mind set and record the sounds and vegetation details.
Too bad they did not expand Vietcong any further and went for Vietcong 2 which was killed by ranking server and copy protection.
First Vietcong game has no copyright protection and this contributes to its long eternal life.
Greetings from Vietnam.

I have but hated it. That tunnel level is so confusing, and I ended up lost in a jungle at night, which apparently gave me nausea. The main character swearing his head off every few seconds makes me hard to take it seriously.

Getting lost in the tunnels and having huge open spaces to explore was half the fun of the game...Give ma SP of Vietcong any day over something that holds my hand all the time and puts a huge arrow on my screen pointing where to go next.

Hellyeah ! that was what made it so intense where you knew you could just not save right where you where either but had to make it through to the next "checkpoint" ! yeah sometimes you swore you never look at it again but it was to good to keep away from in the end !
