Stop playing Run Through the Jungle
It's not so much a dislike against the song or even CCR, but can't there be other songs playing in the background aside from that one track?
If licensing is a problem, why not Ride of the Valkyrie or other classical ones that you shouldn't be paying royalties for anymore?

I muted the menu music long, long ago. Unsung uses Run Through the Jungle too, maybe there’s some royalties loophole on it or something haha.

Yeah, this ♥♥♥♥ started getting boring real fast.

I think the only game I didn't deactivate music for is Silent Hunter III. All others I play my own music (SH3 needs to run in lower resolution, which would mess up window-sizes for anything else that's opened, hence why I don't play my own music for that).

Well, why can't the mods implement this mod then like how they've "implemented" community maps?

getting the rights for these songs would likely cost more than Tripwire is worth alltogether.

You're telling me you still need to pay royalties for works of Tchaikosky these days?
You don't need Vietnam era songs, just gimme something different.

while Tchaikovsky is public domain, the recording that a certain orchestra makes is copyrighted. I guess it wouldn't cost too much to pay for one of these orchestras to let you use their recording though. I was talking more about the rock songs like Hendrix, The Doors, Rolling stones and so on.

The developers looked into other songs.

To get a single from the Rolling Stones the cheapest they could possibly get it would still be more than the entire budget they had for RS2. It's a 7 figure number.

I just mute the menu music, as well with in game music, altogether. Just generally better to blast Carpenter Brut songs as I go ham with an M60. Don't judge me.

[judges you]

Flying Hueys while listening to the Touhou OST is like dodging danmaku. Kind of.

^ Not a surprise. I used to work in the music industry and I can confirm that licensing costs for well known songs can be insanely expensive, and that's only IF your intended use is deemed appropriate by the holder of the rights to a given song.

I was honestly (and pleasantly) surprised TWI got the rights to a CCR song.
