Iran - Iraq War game
Iran Iraq war has interested me for a long time, I have been wondering for some time when I saw this released whether the game developers were considering an Iran Iraq war game? The Iran Iraq was one of the bloodiest conflicts of the 20th century and is all too neglected in comparsion with other conflicts. From 1980 - 1988 both sides bled eachother dry fighting for a short distance of land http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/war/iran-iraq.htm.

Battles were intensely brutal and merciless with thousands dead, trenches dominated the landscape and massive armored attacked tried to penetrate their enemies fortifcations in vain.
I personally believe that tripwire should at least look into this war, the weapons used in the war stretch from old WW1/WW2 gear to the latest weapons such as the T72MBT, recoiless rifles, Anti Tank Guided Missiles such as the AT3 Sagger.

Troops literally fought for 100m of ground, with no value. Kurdish forces in the north raided the Iraqi military which led to murders and bruatlities.

If Tripwire wanted a battlefield which could utilise the RO2 style of gameplay best, the Iran Iraq war could show this easily: with brutal trench warfare, merciless mountain battles and unbelievable airbattles.
Původně napsal Hull & Drones:
all of you silly people going to make me bump a 3 1/2 year old thread. "go play squad" "go play insurgency" none of you know what the Iran-Iraq war was and at the very least, you could have just looked up what it was or looked up some footage. There is no game out there that can compare to the Iran-Iraq war. That is how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it is.

Iran had AK47 bayonet charges, while the Iraqis used sarin gas. WW1 with AK's and PKM's

The iraqis literally ran barbed wire through lakes so that they can electrocute iranians running through to attack

"In order to defend Basra, the Iraqis poured water into a pre-existing lake east of Basra, known as Fish Lake, and filled it with barbed wire, floating land mines, and high voltage electrical power lines to make it impenetrable to the Iranians."

Here is some of the more iconic footage from the war showing Iranians attacking an Iraqi T-72. : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jmo04Nw5Vdg&feature=emb_title

So in closing, this game cannot be compared to squad or insurgency at all. It was the longest war of the 20th century that went on for 8 years

EDIT: Forgot to add that Iranian children would be used as a frontline human shields to clear barbed wire, landmines, and blow themselves up under tanks.

"During the Iran–Iraq War, children were drafted into the Basij army where, according to critics of the Iranian government, they "were sent to the front as waves of human shields".[148][149] Christopher Hitchens has claimed that Iranians "lost maybe a million and a half of their kids that way",[150] including due to machine gun fire and when clearing minefields and barbed wire, a job given to children so that older troops could pass.[151][152] Other sources have estimated the total number of all Iranian casualties to be in the 200,000–600,000 range.[153] One source estimates that 3% of the Iran–Iraq War's casualties were under the age of 14.[162]"

You can't make a game with 1 map that is 100m stretch of land.
MMO?
Verdun 2?
Also I believe their border is more than just 100m long.

It would be interesting as f considering the variety of techniques employed, equipements, etc. But the consumers of video games are mostly Europeans and US that aren't inteterested in this War or don't even know about it so it would be hard to sell.
Also I don't know that much but it's some kind of a "patriotic"/"holy" War for the Iranian Islamic Regime so having this War depicted by an americain game studio might attract the attention of not well intended people on TWI.
I would love to see and play such a game in the Ro/Rs gameplay style but I don't realistically see TWI going that way. Maybe if some modders like the concept but mod support for RS2 is far from optimal (whitelisting bug, the game has passed his peak, etc.).
squad and insurgency are 2 unrealistic cancerous games. a rising storm version of Syria Iraq Iran and Turkey would be the best game
