Insurgency is whole different thing, it's nothing about trench warfare.
Iran had AK47 bayonet charges, while the Iraqis used sarin gas. WW1 with AK's and PKM's
The iraqis literally ran barbed wire through lakes so that they can electrocute iranians running through to attack
"In order to defend Basra, the Iraqis poured water into a pre-existing lake east of Basra, known as Fish Lake, and filled it with barbed wire, floating land mines, and high voltage electrical power lines to make it impenetrable to the Iranians."
Here is some of the more iconic footage from the war showing Iranians attacking an Iraqi T-72. : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jmo04Nw5Vdg&feature=emb_title
So in closing, this game cannot be compared to squad or insurgency at all. It was the longest war of the 20th century that went on for 8 years
EDIT: Forgot to add that Iranian children would be used as a frontline human shields to clear barbed wire, landmines, and blow themselves up under tanks.
"During the Iran–Iraq War, children were drafted into the Basij army where, according to critics of the Iranian government, they "were sent to the front as waves of human shields".[148][149] Christopher Hitchens has claimed that Iranians "lost maybe a million and a half of their kids that way",[150] including due to machine gun fire and when clearing minefields and barbed wire, a job given to children so that older troops could pass.[151][152] Other sources have estimated the total number of all Iranian casualties to be in the 200,000–600,000 range.[153] One source estimates that 3% of the Iran–Iraq War's casualties were under the age of 14.[162]"
lmao @ play squad bro
And yes, the Iran Iraq war is totally not like anything squad or insurgency did or does. It was a freaking slaughter fest more akin to ww1 and Stalingrad rolled in with modern tanks, jet fighters, attack choppers, child soldiers, and massed arty. As a subject for an action FPS MP game I think it is freaking awful. The war crime stuff, the child soldier thing, the religious insanity of Iran's non-regular troops or the war of the city crap of shooting ballistic missiles at each others cities.. It was a messy nightmare.
As to ignorant folks trying to compare this conflict with squad and insurgency. It just shows gross ignorance of the subject matter. What a shock. Same kind of folks that ask when do they unlock red dots in Vietnam.........
I think the RS/RS2 model would be a good way of representing the conflict, especially due to the objective based dynamics it has.
Just my take on things, plus a 1980s period conflict would be pretty awesome.
This war makes ww1 look like a kitten, while this war was more like a giant meat grinder that has khorne himself turning the handle at record speed, making kids into khornate hamburgers faster then you can say "ded"
Giant NATO warmachine being humiliated by tiny country with better equipment. We all know that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ maggots never show you their real casualties statistics, because propaganda.
