I believe it wasn't adopted by armies until later.
The SMG's I've heard of them using are: Carl Gustav M/45, S&W M76, Madsen M-50, Sten Mk VIs (Supressed) & CAR-15 (arguably an SMG).
They also apparently had a few UZi's and there's a rare picture of a SEAL using a Harrington & Richardson T233 (which was a clone of the HK33). But these weapons were as rare as rocking horse turd!
