Why does the U.S.A. get tan helmets in the game?

Who would wear that in a jungle environment? That's like begging to get shot in the head... They look cool but why?

It's the other side of the standard US helmet. I'm not sure how much they were worn, but they were there. Either way, I feel they'd be a lot better for urban enviroments, where you have brown buildings and craters with dirt.

In the Mekong delta and up north along the DMZ I've seen pictures of the reversed cover being worn.

It may be better suited for maps like Hill 937 and parts of maps like Highway 14. Without a matching tan uniform, though, you still stick out like a sore thumb.

Ultimately I gave up on relying on camouflage and use the black MP helmet with a gas mask. I always die first in firefights but I imagine every moment leading up to that the VCs are intimidated by me.

Isn't it less bright and glow-y than the regular ERDL helmet?

You mean the standard M1 helmet or the ERDL helmet? Because the ERDL is still the best camo helmet option for the US teams.
