99% of M14s could not fire in full auto.
Why in the world would the military spend all that money just to "weld" the gun shut to semi, you may ask? They didn't, they just switched the nobs out.

A lot were welded though. Plus it sounds a hell of a lot cheaper than that other option you have there.
On a similar note, the GIs in WW2 figured out how to rig up a bootlace to the charging handle(then back around to the trigger) of the M1 to make it full auto. Imagine the recoil of a 30-06 compared to the 7.62x51, and only 8 rounds or capacity. I bet those ARVN guys have some extra bootlaces..
But still, can I wish for the M14E2/M14A1 to be given to the machine gunner?
Imagine M2 full auto with worse recoil.
I'm sure they will eventually since it's not a huge change to the current assets already used in-game and it would add a little variety and distinction between the US forces.
