-Also, if you haven't restarted your modem and/or router in a while; I recommend doing that (unplug it all and wait a few minutes, then plug modem in and wait for a minute, then plug in the router and wait), then try the game.
I don't believe it is happening to everyone else on the server, no one mentioned experiencing similar issues. This occurs on all servers, regardless of ping or player count. I've tried servers with ping from 40 to 300 and it does not appear to be worse or better dependent on it. I've also experienced the same issue on servers with no players, a couple players, and max players, and the problem is still the same.
It persists after restarting my modem and router. Unfortunately a direct connection isn't available, my router is too far from my computer.
The issue is that when moving, my character teleports 2-3 feet in the direction I am moving, basically rubberbanding.
Sounds like potential packet loss. If you are serious about online gaming go wired. Ethernet cables come in all lengths and are cheap, you can get a 15m for less than a tenner.
Somethings to try.
1. Check which channel you are on and compare to other wifi in locale. Manually set your channel to the least common. Turn off auto select.
2. any new devices , white goods ,lights, vending machines etc in your locale?
3. Build a homemade focus dish for your router to help strengthen signal.
4 . Run a in depth ping check ; minimum 10mins 3 sec intervals preferable with display graphs showing jitter. Something like Ping plotter pro , glass etc. Choose a few servers then also do a baseline to something safe like google for comparison.
5. If you have not recently change your router password and name, you might have a tapper.
Thanks for the advice, I'll see what i can do and look into getting a wired connection
Personally I don’t think any router is too far away for a cable if you have a power drill.
That's odd, my wifi says its much faster than that when I run a speed test
The server menu in game shows my ping to usually be from 60-150, I know that's a little high but I did not think it was too high
Packet loss is the main culprit. Which is to say information not reach you or the server. Due to it getting lost. A bad Wifi connection between your router and your PC causes this. Either through distance or various objects in between.
This sounds like the issue. This is a bit of an ad hoc method to troubleshoot, but I remembered battlefield shows what is affecting your connection to the server. I booted up battlefield 1 and it showed ping was okay, but packet loss was severe.
I'll look into solving this with a wired connection, or as close as I can get to it, and if I remember I'll let you know if it is fixed.
Thanks for the help
