It's also popular because it's challenging, requires a lot of teamwork and very good pilots.
Last but not least it's one of the map that truly use the potential of transport choppers at least on point A and B. On other map people tend to not use transport helicopter, on resort it's your last and only resort.
Personnally I only like the first 2 objectives, I don't like the other part of the map.
It has the highest skill cap for pilots all around, from transport to loach to cobra.
It allows for some of the highest skill plays in that regard, and demands skilled pilots for the initial landing assuming the enemy team has set up properly.
In turn, this allows more focused gameplay in LMG/DSHK/RPG as well, naturally making it attractive to those who prefer said roles as well. Because of this increased skill curve, naturally most new players hate this map or love it, because they are either on a team that steamrolls, or they are on a team that never caps A. As you get more experienced, it becomes a lot more fun when you have a clear and distinct impact on the outcome of the match.
Some of it's objectives are designed using some of the best buildings in the game, Alpha/Charlie from Cu Chi, Alpha/Delta from Hue, etc. So even if you don't like the design of them particularly, it is one of the only maps that has that many elevated points for the viets to use, with a few large buildings to hold against choppers.
All in all the air game of the map in a lot of these regards is expanded, contrasted to constricted examples like Quang Tri where you can barely fly outside the walls and there is a single one-story roof to put the dshk on, for the only dshk.
If A is too hot its impossible to land. Landing troops on the flanks, therefore, is the only option and can work. The infantry shouldnt try to sneak into A. Instead, shooting from the flanks can help clear the beach for future A landing.
Sadly, most players just run towards whatever objective is on their map.
Resort is the only map where you actually need communication to win.
In short for both sides its all about rushing the beach.....
