Can't Pull Off a Banzai Charge
I must be missing something. Do I have to have something like the pick axe equipped to do it or does it work with any sharp instrument? I hit sprint and MMB at the same time (sometimes holding downt he MMB the whole time) but my soldier doesn't appear to do any kind of charge. In RO2 it was obvious when you pulled off a charge, but I'm just not seeing the animation or hearing my character yell.

They are Vietnamese, not Japanese.

What has that got to do with my question? Banzai Charge is what people are calling it from what I see on Google searches. Though the wiki calls it a Bayonet Charge. but it doesn't matter as you know what I was asking about. :)

Yes. You are talking about a Japanese suicidal charge at the enemy with a the battle cry "天皇陛下万歳" (Tennōheika Banzai).

Tomato tomatoe. You knew what I was referring to. Obviously I had the term wrong. Everyone in voip is saying bonzai. I never really played RS1 (maybe 2 rounds) so hadn't really thought about the terminology.

The difference will really come with people (like me) who put lots of time in RO2 and RS. When we think of a Banzi Charge, we think "the whole team gets together, waits for the commanders order, and just run out and die" and that was usually when there were no reinforcements left, an end to the match.

Then what do I think when I hear somebody say that in RS2? Well, I'm Vietnamese or American, so, my mind conects it to "get off your rear end and push the objective", which is obviously not what you mean. I still can't exactly understand what your question is. Would like to help, but you need to be a bit more clear on what you exactly want answered.

It works for me. Equip bayonet, hold melee while sprinting.

Theres's no scream when you charge, plus a banzai charge is a suicidal attack used by the Japanese, not any nation.

In one round I heard the commander issue a charge and a lot of the team ran screaming (over the mics :p). I, however, was too new to know what to do.

So, in RO2 we did a bayonet charge which made it feel like we were running faster (from our view, not the other team's) and we managed to plunge into enemies. I was wondering why it wasn't working for me in this game as I understood the the Vietnamese team had such a charge at their disposal.

Thanks for the replies.

In terms of Rising Storm 1, a large Banzi charge would increase moral, resistance to damage, and give a bit of a speed and stamina boost. It was a feature there for the Japanese, and a little for the Soviets (if in a large mass) as well. Here, there is no feature.

The Vietnamese don't go for mass charges, they use stealth and tunnels to flank and suprise the Americans. Hell, you can still do a large group chare if your team wants, but there will be no benafit. Infact, it will probably end worse since everybody has automatic and semi-automatic weapons compared to most bolt action and semi-automatic of RO2/RS.

Why the Banzai Charge doesn't work for this game :

World War 2 ; Malnourished Japanese man brainwashed by Fascist Propoganada:

" We will NEVER lose this WAR!! We have promised our GLORIOUS Emperor that we will take the neighboring lands for ALL OF JAPAN!! Even if we fail here, our sons, our daughters, and ALL OF JAPAN WILL FIGHT THE INVADERS!!

BBBBBBAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNZZZZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!

Vietnam War ; Malnourished South Vietnamese rice farmer who wanted to get free money :

" WE will GET that FREE STUFF Wellfare Check!! Even if we have to kill our own people!! SURE we aren't given that many provisions by the North..... And uhhh...... They aren't really communicating with us...... And even said that they will punish anyone who hates communism in the South when they come in....... which may be some of our own family..... Ummm..... Uhhhhh.... FORGET ABOUT WHAT I JUST SAID!!!!

FORR UHHH WHAT'S HIS NAME!? OH YEAH! HO CHI MIN ~ ...... "

[ Is then brutally killed in a devistating and demoralizing, napalm strike that killed their entire charging line ]

That's why.

Its only exclusive to the Japanese forces...kinda salute to their Samurai conviction.

not the Vietnamese.

Come to think of it I heard over either the mic or the game VO something about HO CHI MIN "is now active". Not sure what that was all about. Wish I had more time to play this and learn it properly.
