SSD.
That's actually three words, or an acronym.
And I disagree, this should work fine on an HDD, the game isn't actually doing anything on startup, it's just stalling.
It *should* work on an HDD, but it doesn't. Just accept it and install it on an SSD, it's a night and day difference for Rising Storm 2 and Killing Floor 2.

These are for KF2, but it's the same for most UE3 games.
Even on SSD it takes a minute or so, when you launch the game for the first time. 2nd and 3rd launches are a lot faster, because the game has everything stored in cache.
Edit: I've just checked the numbers. The game only loads up to 4 GB for me (Read total is 3808 MB).
As for RAM, it jumps from 5.7GB to 8.8GB.
Still, slow HDD and low bandwith RAM could explain extreme loading times in some cases.
You can see (and hear) this right there on the main menu.
I mean I usually play for 1,5 hours at least so having to wait 2 min is ok.
