Claymores
This is going to sound stupid, but how do i use claymores?
I tried using them like in Battlefield and rainbow, where they have a trigger if someone walks through the set up area.

Yet when enemies walked past two of them, they didn't blow up.

What am I doing wrong? The Door frame where i used them was 1m wide max, and they weren't destroyed (Unless the picture doesn't disappear when destroyed)

The claymore is a manual trigger ambush mine, you need to detonate it by pressing the clacker, that's how it's traditionally used in real life. Battlefield and other games lied to you about how it works. (Yes I know historically it has been modified to be able to be triggered by a tripwire, but it's rare)

Here's some important facts:

• Kill angle: about 45 degrees hor/vert, you can aim roughly by the knobs on the top.

• Kill range: 35m kill/ 40m wound. The damage cannot be blocked by a body like you can with grenades. See example: https://i.imgur.com/bMvwvcj.png

• Trigger range: 20m.

• Safe trigger distance: 2m and above, make sure you back out.

• You can rotate the claymore before placing by pressing 'fire mode' or 'bipod' key.

Some lesser known facts:

• It cannot be destroyed by bullets and explosions (except by another claymore).

• You can chain detonate 2 claymores by placing one within 15m of another claymore's kill cone. (so that you dont need to be within the trigger range of the second clay)

• If your claymore is too far to retrieve, you can swap to a different class (when you are dead) and swap back to refresh the inventory.

They attempted to sort of make them work like reality. I would say mildly correct but also vary WRONG. The m57 firing device, aka clacker is kind of right. No cable is wrong. Lethal distance is vastly understated. About 2 months into my Army gig, the Drill instructors put on a demo with a claymore. The lethal distance is NOT 20 meters. More like 80 or more. It is VARY impressive watching a claymore blow. All those ball bearing flying downrange makes some impressive visuals. Which this game does not even remotely get right, but done others do too. You can not set them up in a daisy chain. You can not set them to use blasting caps and tripwires. They are 99 percent over all, worthless. They can be used to good effect. But usually not.

Now with all that siad. Most games are in utter fantasy land when it comes to M18a1 claymores. It generally is a command detonated mine. But I have no idea why you can't do most of what the manual tell you can do with these things. I dont know why we cant have more reality in this game that is suppose to be "the most authentic bla bla bla" Vietnam bla bla. This mine was designed to flatten out human wave attacks in one go. You never get the vibe of just what this thing is in games. =(

Yeah I'd certainly would love to see a more accurate model of claymore in RS2 in terms of range, ofc they nerfed it for balance reasons, which I can sort of agree but not fully. I'm just glad that they didn't follow other games making it a place and forget type of joke.

Get on enemy point set claymores to defend your camp wait for enemy to rush back into point and pull the trigger when you are about to be over run. Best way to use them even if you kill yourself
