i didn't play much ro2 so i can't say much about the other two then ig we're remaking rs1/ro2 now, ok then
Winterwald should be good, hope they keep the atmosphere and progression as the fog gives way to open fields. That's the defining, interesting part of the map. I'd also like to see something a bit like Alligator Creek from RS1 too, that had a good progression in lighting from dawn to day.
Not looking forward to Mamayev. Uninteresting map design, not suitable for the setting. When someone thinks Vietnam War, I doubt they imagine layers and layers of static trench defences and concrete bunkers across a rolling wasteland. Whatever.
I guess redoing old maps is easier than thinking up new designs.
Personally, I think it'd be interesting to see a rather untouched setting of the war since it's based in the DMZ, where artillery rounds were being fired daily. It'd be a nice change in setting than the usuall jungle maps we've been getting.
Combat was prohibited inside the DMZ and American units rarely entered the area, only observed it.
This game is going further and further down the path of cartoony fiction with each update.
I know it's just a game.
But we still don't have a single map that is pure jungle... which was the whole reason I got excited for this game in the first place.
And you guys are just remaking maps I've already played to death..... yet you still havent made bridges? What the hell is going on.
Oh, and you also basterdized the battle of long tan. Don't get me started on how that map should have been designed, and how the represtation you went for does not reflect the battle in any way. Didn't even reduce the cooldown for the arty, even though that battle was won with arty. I guess it would have been too boring... to try and push through constant artillery with 500 tickets. I don't think that sounds boring.
Black April improved? I'm sold. It could be more fitting than freaking Quang Tri TE or Hue City SU for Saigon. May not be realistic for 75, but there was some disturbance here in 68 after all
This game isn't a "historical simulator" and shouldn't be treated as such. If the devs just focused on making every aspect of the game based solely on what happened during the war it wouldn't be that fun as a video game. That said, I think the devs have done a pretty good job thus far in keeping the game very historical, but making changes that promote gameplay.
