PAVN Women were all just either Anti-Aircraft gunners, propaganda producers, or driving trucks down Highway 559 AKA the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
And women in the NLF were either propaganda makers, village security, doctors, or put traps down in lieu of enemy patrols. Rarely did they actually go out and went looking for fights. The Tet Offensive was a rare occassion because they needed virtually everyone they could get in a massive gamble, which flopped hard onto a big bushill of barbed wire.
It's estimated that during the Germanic migrations of the 4th and 5th centuries saw the highest proportions of female figihters. Large groups of Germanic peoples migrated into the lands of the Roman Empire in groups of around 20,000. Which could pull a force of about 40% of their size. Which usually could only stand up to a single Roman legion. Arming the women could drastically tip the balance in their favour. There could be groups that were far larger. But those groups generally attracted the attention of the empire who formed a large army to defeat them. These smaller forces were small enough for the romans to almost ignore them if they didn't cause any trouble and when they did cause trouble their size meant that the romans under estimated them. Especially since at these sixes arming the women was highly beneficial.
After this time women fighters basically fall out of history. In Japanese culture noble women defended their household. Or the household of their liege. You could have groups as large as 100 of fully armed and well trained female fighters usually led by the wife of the ruling lord and all her retainers which were often servents or the wives of those samurai who served the lord.
In Vietnam we don't have much in the way of information. The only time we have female fighters in an offensive is in the Tet offensive. A big coordinated uprising of the VC that assaulted almost all southern positions all at the same time. It effectively killed off the VC as a capable fighting force for about 3 years. Any surviving VC were generally trained "main force" VC which at times were indistinguishable from the NVA. They were organised in battalion sized units and fought as such. With varying degrees of success.
Other instances of encountering female VC fighters were generally encountered during search and destroy missions. It wasn't uncommon for a village to attempt to defend itself against the search and destroy force if it thought it could. Often times forcing only a few casualties on an American force would meant that they pulled back. Giving the village time to get rid of any VC supplies that may be stored there so when they came back they could simply say that the VC forced their way in. All the while keeping the VC supplies safe. There were reports of females taking up arms in these engagements. However this could include the simple act of throwing a grenade of some kind. Instead of actively taking up a firearm and being there for the entire engagement. And of course many villagers technically weren't VC fighters but instead had their own reasons for taking up arms there and then. Much of the northern sympathies were spurred on by nationalism rather than communism. The Americans were just another invader with the southern governement being another puppet.
Proportions are everything. There were literally millions of soldiers involved in the conflict. Nobody actually knows the extent of the VC forces at its peak. Only that it's peak is estimated to have occurred in 1968. With estimates ranging from as low as 200,000 to as high as 1 million (there's actually higher estimates than that but they are a bit ludicrous and would imply that they were all basically slaughtered during Tet). So what was the ratio between men and women? Because that's what ultimately matters here. The majority of people will be happy if the ratio depected in game depicts reality. Information is relitively scarce so we can only estimate. Plus the definition of "VC fighter" is even up for debate. But if you call everyone who fought against the southern governments forces VC (which to be honest it's what they basically classified as VC at the time) then you can still pretty safely assume that it was only 1 in a few thousand.
Pic-chaaaaa!
just find a gf lol
Despite the numerous threads asking for women to be added into this game, and numerous answers (including from the dev team) rejecting that proposal, is it possible that some day, female fighters will be added into this game?
My main concern is this: If somehow, someone managed to pay a gaming news website (say K***ku) to state the necessity to add in female characters, pressuring Tripwire or Antimatter, will they succumb to the wave? This, plus constant forum requests and youtube videos asking for it, and/or other unothordox methods, might change our strict policy on females.
send them 1 million dollars and they will do everything you want
