tanks and ground vechiles?
One thing ive been wondering about this game is the absance of ground vechiles.

IMO it would be nice to have these kinda things, for the NVA they could(on some maps) Be using there inventory of soviet tanks and on other maps they could use lighter stuff like jeeps and tuk tuks. VC would mainly use bikes and some other stuff that they used, not sure to the full extent of what they used, but I know the NVA had and used tanks in some battles along with having some soviet helicopters, but im not sure how many map these could be added to, meaning that they could be the highlights of some of the maps and for the US they could add the M60(tank) or somthing like the M48 patton. Also jeeps. I dont see a problem with adding working ground vechiles. TBH I think the game would be so much fun with it, but to counter tanks, there could be anti tank mines and emplacements.

What I have read, they are coming. They just ran a test gamein CTB last week, or two. I think we will see it soon, tired of walking too, but if VC RPG players can shoot down Choppers, i don't see how they will last in a game.

The thing is that M60 and M48 are ♥♥♥♥ against RPG-7.

They would have to downgrade Northern forces to RPG-2 to stand a chance.

I don't think the M60 was used in Vietnam. The M48 was however used whenever a tank was needed.

RPG 2 was used as well by the northern forces. But only 3 players have RPG,s at a time on the NVA team and if they give the M72 LAW to the southern forces and the NVA on some maps it would be more balanced.

This is not battlefield. Sure vehicles would be cool but they are awkward in these games in my opinion. Rising storm is an infantry centric game and should stay that way

Red orchestra 2 had tanks and it wasent bad(Well maybe for the fact they dident have rocket launchers) but other then that it was cool. I know its not battlefield, but it feels odd having a war in the 60,s that had tanks in a game that likes to boast about its representation of the war while missing them.

That's the thing though.

They didn't have tanks.

Tanks were very rare. Tank vs tank even rarer to the point where it almost didn't happen. Whenever the PAVN pulled out armour they always got bombed to high hell. Southern forces didn't make heavy use of tanks either due to how they fought.

I know this, but it would be awsome to just have 1 or 2 maps that have tanks for both factions.

battle of an loc had US APC,s and tanks as well as the PAVN having 48 tanks in this battle.

An Loc was two forces who didn't know how to deal with tanks using tanks. The ARVN really only had M113s and some Walker Bulldogs. The NVA had full on T-54s. But they didn't know how to use them at a tactical level and they were vunerable to LAWs. They would often overextend or get seperated from their infantry. Or both. Leading to ARVN Anti tank teams armed with multiple LAWs to close in and engage all at once from all sides. The ARVN opted to mostly keep their tanks out of the fight. They wouldnt stand a chance against a T-54 and there was also a load of RPG's around. The rest were hit by the air. The amount of bombs dropped during the whole battle of An Loc is staggering. There would be a B52 strike every hour of every day. AC130s, F4s, Helicopter support. Anything that flew the US threw at them. In this battle the US even lost an AC130 to a Strela-2M. Just goes to show how modern it all got by the end.

Tanks in RO 2 was a whole lot of effort wasted on something barely anyone played or wanted to play. Sure they got the detail of the tanks right, but what's all that do when the time and resources could've been spent elsewhere: More maps, more guns, more polish.

maybe your right, maybe your not. Either way that's your opinion and you have the right to express it here.
