Backpacks
I read somewhere that backpacks are getting removed from factions that still have them if I remember correctly. Is this true or not?

I've only seen people asking/suggesting that backpacks be removed or that they become an optional thing. I personally haven't heard any offical standing on it.

I don't know if there's been a confirmation, but all I've seen is suggestions for it. I'd personally like to see it, in my opinion the US would look pretty badass with the buttpacks, because the ARVN with tigerstripe and the steel M1 helmets and buttpacks are like the height of cool.

Yeah I prefer the buttpacks too.

Implement 3 options for backpacks :
  • Big backpack for max ammo capacity, but slowest speed
  • Buttpack for increased ammo capacity, a little faster than with big backpack
  • No pack for minimum ammo (what the vest can hold), with fastest speed of the 3

I hate the backpacks, remove them.

I like this idea. It'd give people an actual reason to keep the backpacks on if they want more ammo or something.

Ill say it again. Why am I assualting a bunker with a ruck full of spare socks and poggy bait? Im gonna get my half shelter wooden stakes and shove this threw that buggers eye socket when Irun out of ammo that is attached to my web gear, next to my frags.

well to be fair with the americans i think they tried to replicate the fact they used to carry ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of equipment and thats why they have the massive backpacks

The rucksacks were actually much more common than the butt packs that were getting phased out by 1968.

But the rucksacks weren't really brought to a battle if they knew they were going to be in one. So the soldiers would only have the normal webbing with ammunition pouches, med kit pouch, canteen and a pistol holster (if they were issued one) right? For example the US pointman only has this type of webbing, no rucksack for him. I think that's the way it should be for every US and Vietnamese classes.

This and a mechanic for flak vest and helmet ballistics would be killer. Dunno' how you would balance the ballistic properties, but a man could dream.

I haven’t heard this myself, but I am one person that has made the suggestion to, at a minimum, remove the rucksack from the US soldier/marine models because they are a bit much for combat... or am I to believe that every time I am playing as the US my unit has just been ambushed while relocating our base? I mean, why else am I carrying around my sleeping bag, bed roll, entire mess kit, toiletries, etc.... in every match?

Yes, the ARVN gear carrying appearance looks much more appropriate and the US should be similar. Although the ARVN soldiers are not flawless either as I have noticed that they need to model an M1 Garand ammunition bandolier for the ARVN Rifleman because he’s carrying around 20-round M16 magazines for no reason...

+1. I like the idea of having functional options in addition to fixing the hugely silly backpack appearances.
